Trae Young leaving Oklahoma after first year to go pro

Quote:
He packed high school gyms across Oklahoma, dazzled in Lloyd Noble Center, made national headlines, and did it all with a style that commanded attention, attracted criticism and always generated interest.

Now Trae Young is going to the NBA.

Only five days after the end of Oklahomaís season, when Young boarded the team bus in Pittsburgh and headed home, he made the announcement in a first-person story told to ESPNís Adrian Wojnarowski.

Why make it specific to Young, who probably won't be even picked in the top 5? Why not just make a thread about who has declared for the draft?

Ayton and Bamba have also declared and signed with an agent.

Yall are relentless on Yappi.

I like Ayton but was thoroughly unimpressed in his NCAA tourney game against Buffalo.

I wouldnt want Trae Young either.

Bad decision for Young, the kid's life went into a spirialing downfall around Christmas when ESPN decided he'd be the next Steph Curry.
Ayton and Bamba will get drafted due to potential - because they are big an athletic. A guy named Noah VonLeah from Indiana University was drafted a few years back in the top 10 by Portland. He's never been anything more than the 12th - 15th man off the bench. Never developed because he left college way too soon.

Michael Porter Jr from Missouri has declared and signed with an agent. A few other, lower rated players who may or may not get drafted has as well. Also of note: two players that did not play in college. Mitchell Robinson, a former 5* center who had committed and enrolled at Western Kentucky but left shortly after arriving, and Anfernee Simons, the 5* #1 combo guard in the class of 2018 who played a postgrad year at IMG Academy in Florida. Both are possible late lottery picks.

Cavs fans, or fans of any other team, who are you realistically wanting? Assuming the Cavs draft 6th.

This will be the best decision Trae Young has ever made in his life, in all likelihood. What a complete moron.

Noah Vonleh has made $8M from 2014-2017 and is making $3.5M this year on the Bulls. He averages 15 mins a game in playing time. So that’s about $3400 per minute played in the NBA. What a dummy leaving too early!

Yeah, but ep now he won't have his college paid for like he could have. Now he'll have to pay that out of his own pocket. College isn't cheap.

How often has coming back to school when you're already a projected lottery pick in the NBA, or a projected 1st rder in the NFL, worked out? I'm sure there are examples but I struggle to think of many. Meanwhile, there are countless examples of it being a bad decision.

You'd be insane not to leave the minute you can if you know you're likely to be a high pick.
