Sidney Yellow Jackets 2016

Just saw where DT Devan Rogers received an offer from Bowling Green. That makes three current players with D1 offers. Two in '18 class with Rogers and Bowser (Cincinnati) and of course Gordon in the '19 class.

Should be an interesting season. You would be hard pressed to find a Sidney roster with more talent. Might have to go back decades. This could be the first season in a long time where playoffs are a realistic goal.

Kids with division 1 offers doesn't necessarily translate to wins, look at Springfield and Troy of late.

True, but teams that don't have any kids with Div. 1 offers don't usually fare too well either. ;-) (Especially when you are playing Div. 1 or 2 High School Football)

How many D1 players a team has is not necessarily an accurate measure of how talented they are overall. Also, the most talented teams don't always win. I've seen teams play and win in weeks 13-15 beating more talented teams each of those weeks.

Again, true. However I would rather have a team with Div. 1 talent than a team with none. Does it guarantee wins? Nope. But it sure makes it easier to build around.

Here we go with the Debbie downers. This is Sidney we're talking about. A school that has produced less than a handful of D1 athletes in it's entire history. Just the fact that they have multiple kids with offers at the same time is a feat itself.

It doesn't take a Captain Obvious to know that talent isn't always going to win games. But returning almost the entire squad from a winning season just might.

Pretty good article. I love that the Piqua game will be aired live. It should give additional incentive to both teams (as if they need any).

Troy and Springfield didn't have the chance of racking up wins. They weren't playing Greenon or Ben Logan. Now being in the GWOC, you might get knocked down a few pegs.

You must be jealous of our success the last 11 seasons.

Uh dude Sidney offense is really good.QB is beyond great. I don't know about the rest of the league, but Sidney will score against anybody. Sidney is definitely one of the top 10 teams in this region.

As a former Yellow Jacket player and coach living in Columbus, I am so happy to hear the program appears to have turned the corner and is headed for better days. Good luck Yellow Jackets!!!

We'll get to see what the Devils are made of this year. I find it interesting that despite relative proximity, Sidney and Tipp have only played twice in history. (1913 & 1988). Looking forward to the start of a new annual series.

Really good up front with the Rogers (BG offer) and Purk. Bowser is a two way player and can be a difference maker on defense as well. From what I saw last year I think it has the potential to be a really good unit.

Struggled tonight against CJ. Had some missed opportunities and bad decision making. CJ scored three times, twice on blown coverage. Sidney scored twice and had another wiped out by a penalty. That was with the first team in. Nothing that can't be fixed though. Rogers didn't play due to a foot injury. Just a precaution. No point risking anything a week before the season starts.

Stebbins also had their hands full with CJ only beating them 3 to 2 at the quad scrimmage Stebbins held. I was impressed with their offense esp the Qb and Rb, look for Cj to put a lot of pts on the board this yr.

LOL, im thinking those days might be over or numbered. youre not playing mediocre teams anymore, im looking at maybe 5-6 loses for you against GWOC teams, maybe you beat Fairborn, maybe you dont.

I've already done the comparison, Tecumseh, Shawnee, Kenton Ridge and Bellefontaine are just as competitive as Sidney, Butler, Greenville, Troy and Piqua
