DVII Region 25 Semi Finals

Warren JFK vs. Mapleton
Cuyahoga Heights vs. East Canton

I feel pretty good about Kennedy over Mapleton. They are playing about as good as anyone right now. Not too sure about the other game. It is kind of a toss up for me. That loss to Brookfield was very suprising for CH. What is everyone thinking?

I saw Mapleton against Valley last week. I believe this is a winnable game for JFK. Their offense is completely around the QB. Think of a small town D7 version of Girard. Their QB is their Waid. Threw about 270 and ran about 130 or so. Decent arm strength, pretty accurate. Decent wheels. Their D is suspect. We scored 4 TDs and had about 3 other red zone opportunities. If JFK has a decent pass defense they got a good shot at week 13.
I think the East Canton- Cuyahoga Hts winner will move on to the semis

What I have seen of Mapleton in six games is their total inability to stop the run. That will not bode well for them.

I heard JFK was banged up pretty good last week in Windham. Are the Eagles going to be at full strength?

They lost #2 to a broken collarbone. He was a starting corner/safety and had really started coming on as a tailback averaging around 11 yds a carry with over a 100 yd against St. Joes and had 70 yds in the first half against Windham before the injury. He's only a sophomore who has started the last two years. It does hurt a bit, especially on defense but they have had kids playing all year. They'll miss his speed a bit but the backups are more than capable. Other than that they are reslly pretty healthy for this time of the year.

Lucas scrimmaged Mapleton earlier this year and ran all over them. Outscored them 7 TDs to zero. I cannot believe they have made it this far.

I wasn't at the game...didn't see the stats, but according to Brookfield's coach, three key starters for CH didn't play...weren't even on the sidelines

JFK appears to be peaking at the opportune time. Still, it’s worth noting that last week’s victory over Windham is the Eagles ONLY win this season over a team with a winning record. Beating Mapleton will not be a walk in the park, but I’ll take JFK in this one based on their more difficult schedule.

CH is building quite a playoff tradition and deserves to be the team to beat in D25 this year. That loss to Brookfield is indeed surprising, but it was early in the season.

I’ll go with Cuyahoga Heights and Kennedy meeting for the division crown.

What coach Bayuk has done at JFK this year has to rank up there as one of his best coaching performances, they are night and day compared to what they were in August.

It is true that the Windham win was the only one over a team with a winning record but you also have to note that Mapleton will only be the third DVIi team the Eagles have faced all season, and that is in the second round of the playoffs. I would venture to say that outside of the MAC no one plays a tougher schedule in DVII and even the MAC might not be able to say that this year. 5 opponents made the playoffs in divisions IV,V and VI with 3 of them still alive.

#2 is a big loss indeed on both sides of the ball. Hopefully JFK can overcome it.
