Region 3: Fairmont (7-3) @ Springfield (8-2)

After a grueling matchup in the rain in week 10 we do it all over again. Who has the advantage in this one.

Toss up. If the weather is poor again I'd favor the Firebirds but if not I'd favor the Cats

A real good test of coaching. Who does the best job of making adjustments from last Friday
Did Cats hold anything back anticipating this matchup.

I think its hard to beat a good team twice especially in back to back weeks. For that reason alone I think Springfield has a slight edge

A station recorded. I’ll try to see what channel it was for sure.

Aa far as game goes should be interesting. Springfield definately bit theirselfs a few times with a costly facemask on 3rd on long or over playing the fake field goal. Still crazy to me to see how Fairmont has come in a short amount of time

I agree. If the Cats can pass the ball, they win. If it is cold & rainy, Birds win.

Itís interesting you say that. Many teams think all they have to do is stop the run and they win. That scheme is so much more than that. It really plays with your head. Only the most disciplined teams prevail against it. Springfield lacks discipline to stay put and make tackles. Too many heroís. All you need is a couple of guys that think they know where the ball is going and the option has you. They have better players in Springfield on paper. Definitely good enough to beat Fairmont. For me the question is ďCan Mo get them to stay in their positions and make solid tackles? I just donít think so. Interesting enough Fairmont is way better in good weather, which should be the other way around.

If you donít believe me just take a look at the Centerville game. Cville won by staying put and making solid tackles. Fairmont defense played like normal and held Cville to 17. I hope Springfield does not have a come to Jesus moment and get the kids to stay put.

Springfield has a better chance of going further in the playoffs. As much as I like power football and fundamental defense, Springfield will better represent SW Ohio.

Springfield should be better with better athletes but Fairmont wanted it more last Friday. This week I think it comes down to discipline. I really think Fairmont wins another close game. As slowyourroll stated, Fairmont plays better in good weather too just like Springfield. They hung 44 on Wayne in less than great weather. I think Jesse comes out ready to play and the Birds pull out a close win to make it to their first ever second round playoff game.

Having seen both teams play, I expect Springfield to win by 10-14 point as long as the weather holds. If it rains...it will be a dogfight.

What’s this YOU crab, I don’t play on the team. Did Centerville eat the birds for lunch and dinner ? 17 -0 , 2 - 8 at home ?

I'm leaning towards Springfield in the rematch. Not many teams get essentially a re-do of a game played the prior week, at home again. If the weather is nice, it definitely helps Springfield. Better game planning and preparation should be an edge for Springfield, but I honestly think Miller is the better coach. Fairmont will make this another miserably tough affair, that's their style. I'll say:

Springfield 17
Fairmont 14

Looks like the weather is going to be bad again. We will have to wait to confirm it does not change. If Fairmont stays away from bad pitches they can come away with this one again. I said it before and will repeat it. Springfield wonít be able to resist the fakes and end up getting run on.
