JAVMAN, are you at the meet in in North Carolina? Kudos to you if your are. Few can match your dedication to the sport of Track & Field. Have you had your java yet this morning? You seem to be on cloud nine.

I agree. Good video & audio & real-time results.

I haven't had my "java" yet, but between the web video, keeping track of the USATF Jr. Nationals where Colorado's Anna Hall is up 16 points on her new National HS record in the heptathlon (5598) after the first day, and watching the World Cup Germany vs. Mexico & US Open (golf), my multi-tasking skills are being sharpened!

Wow, is that #2 on the Cincy list? Just behind Almon's 21.08!

He paid for it though - 50.14 in 400m 90 minutes later. Would have been very interesting to see what he would have put up fresh.

I'm sure NC's famous heat and humidity took its toll...on his and other bodies!

Yariel Soto (Centerville) breaks the meet record (7009) in the Decathlon with his 7025 effort...but placed 2nd to the new meet record-holder, Indiana's Peyton Haack. Nice 1-2 by two midwest athletes! The javelin, my favorite event of course, proved to be the killer event for Yariel with his weak 125' effort.

Word to the Soto camp...track down Chuck Greene, noted masters' thrower, in the Dayton area and ask him to work with you on your javelin! He's been around forever and has forgotten more javelin than most have ever learned! I can almost promise you'll bump up into the 160-170 range within a few months given your talent level.

Might be a heat index warning...its very close to 100 degrees down there.

That reminds me of the Lima JO meet in 1983. Scorcher of 95 degrees with high humidity. I was out in that for most of the day, and by the end, totally wiped and suffering from sun burn rash. I did my 1st ever decathlon 2 days later at Welcome Stadium. Ahhh, to be young again with all that energy

As expected Kings demolishes Turpin's girls DMR city record, placing 5th with 11:55.05. Lincoln just misses state record, 3rd in 11:50.87

Here is a picture of the Kings girls who finished 4th in the 4 x 800 relay Saturday. Those who get the awards for finishing in the top eight not only get medals but also crowns proclaiming their status as "All Americans" Check out this photo of the happy Kings girls who broke 9:00 for the first time in school history in 8:59.61. http://www.swotccca.com/Documents/Ch...00%20relay.jpg.

Here are the results from this race. Gahanna Lincoln girls also were "All Americans" with their second place finish at 8:58.31
http://flashresults.com/2018_Meets/O...1_compiled.htm

I just wanted to show everyone what the awards look like at this meet.

I just noticed that one of the Kings girls on the DMR was different from the four in the 4 x 800 team. Here is their picture with their 400m runner in this picture. Both pictures courtesy of Kings XC/TF twitter account.

I enjoy looking up the hometown newspaper coverage of Ohio athletes all year but especially at national meets. I found very little. It might be too early. I did find a piece on Granville with a great picture and although not nationals coverage great articles on Brunswick's Wolf and Wadsworth's Miller.
I will keep looking.

I especially liked the last paragraph of the article quoting Granville's anchor.

"I knew I had to get out fast enough to squash anyone’s thoughts of catching us without going out far too fast and struggling late," Christian said. "This is something we have practiced daily for since the state meet. I was cruising the final lap, tired, but knowing I had saved a gear in case someone snuck up on me.”

I think it shows a depth of understanding and situational awareness that I find to be amazing at this level.

This isn't a Sunday placing results. It's a result I found on Saturday by accident. Kings' Alex Justis was second in the Freshman Mile in 4:25.44. In my quest to find out more about him, I discovered he finished 6th at the state meet in 1:54.86 https://www.baumspage.com/ohsaa/tf/2018/Results1.htm

That's a great find. I was only listing championship top 6 placings, but things like that are great. The Kings recent program is doing a great job of developing kids and a 4:25-1:54 freshman is exciting to follow. Thanks.

I don't say this as a criticism but my boys would have canceled a trip to the moon for a chance to run in the state meet with that kind of talent.

I just hope he enjoyed his European vacation more than Rusty Griswold enjoyed his.
