How much money have I spent on my wrestler?

My wife has been using a finance app to track our family's spending and it has all kinds of really fancy pie charts and bar graphs. I must say I was rather shocked at what the charts showed for how much I spent on wrestling in 2018. I think I could send my kid to college a whole lot cheaper if we just quit wrestling and I saved all the money and put it in a college fund, but it sure wouldn't be as much fun. So I got to thinking and I thought this would be a great Yappi conversation. So how much money to you think you have spent on the sport of wrestling?

Or soccer!!! Spent enough for a couple years of college on soccer alone. Add in the wrestling trips and national teams between 2 wrestlers...I don't even want to know the $ amount.

HOWEVER.... I would do it all over in a hearbeat.

Really?!? College on the cheap is about 23K/year with room and board. I really hope you're not spending more then that on wrestling!

I think it's all relative and depends on what your goals are for your kid. If the goal is to get him/her a full ride to college, way better off putting that $$ away into a 403b or better yet, using it for tutoring in math, english or ACT/SAT Prep... If the goal is to build a your kid into a young adult who is resilient, hard working, manages adversity, sets goals, is coachable and confident.....than the $$ spent on wrestling is $$ well spent!

Well said. If the goal is to help pay for college, there's far more money in libraries than gyms and fields.

Lol. I'd hate to see how much I've sent over the years on all sports my son has done. He has wrestled since age 5, played soccer from K-6th grade, football from 6th-12th grade and has shown horses since he was 2. He's now a senior. I can say, showing horses is much more expensive than any of his sports. Lol

Equipment, travel, camps and tournaments
All of it completely worth the cost. Would not change a thing.

I would have paid triple and still felt like it was a great deal. Seeing them win... Seeing them lose... Seeing them work to improve... Seeing them become young men that I am proud of... Priceless!!
