If Oregon Clay bring everyone, them and Harrison (OH) would be the favorites. Fairfield would be close behind, Hamilton Ross behind that.

Looks like it'll be worth the price of admission, especially if they only charge us for one day!

Thanks to all involved( coaches, referees, parents, wrestlers) for making the adjustments to get this tournament done. And big thanks to the food donations.

Very well run tourney given the last minute adjustment to the brackets. Ran through the rounds quickly. Finishing a 16man in a single evening is no small feet. Great job.

Per BaumsPage, Oregon Clay out-pointed Harrison despite Harrison having six champs to Oregon Clay's two. 203.5-194.5 is the reported number on BaumsPage.

3rd place went to Fairfield with 153, Hamilton Ross fourth with 152.

From what I can tell, Harrison was without 2 starters. Iím not familiar enough with Clay to know if they brought their full lineup or not.

Let's put it this way, Harrison had their six kids that would be state qualification candidates. All won their weight classes. Oregon Clay had all their core wrestlers as well in place.

It was actually 6 champs to 1.

At the conclusion of all matches prior to the finals: Clay was leading Harrison by 16pt. They had 3 head to head matches in the championship finals, Harrison won all 3 and 2 by pin.

Clay W-L (Bonus):
1st: 1-3 (1 MD)
3rd: 2-3 (1 Pin)
5th: 1-0 (1 MD)

Clay has 4 winners in the finals, 1 Pin and 2 MD.

Harrison W-L (Bonus):
1st: 6-0 (3 Pin)
3rd: 0-1
5th: 0-1

Harrison has 6 winners in the finals and 3 Pins.

Of course, the team points posted prior to the finals may have been wrong due to removing the consi-semis and bonus points related to progressing from those matches. However, if they were correct then I have a hard time imagining that it wasn't much closer given the results of the finals. I thought it would end up being a point or two difference as Harrison should have made up significant ground given the 6 wins in the championship and 3 by pin. I thought Harrison should have gained at least 14 or 15 points on Clay from the finals results to bring them within a point or two.

Bummer that the technology glitch created the need for a manual count. It must have been the "hanging chads" - should we demand a recount? (JK)

Great event - amazing competition - all the boys worked hard into the wee hours. It doesn't really matter the final scores as all of the teams dug in under difficult circumstances and performed extremely well. Super proud of all of them.

The only bad part was how long it took to come down from the finals adrenaline. I got home at 2am but I couldn't get to sleep until 5am.

Great job by Fairfield staff and parents pulling this thing off with the weather concerns and doing right by all the kids and the sport.

There is a lot more that went into it working than people may think...volunteers and referees that assumed they would be done by 9ish...ended up there until midnight. I think they pulled a couple extra refs in last minute to help give breaks. They also set up a 6th mat in the other gym to help keep things moving.

The Fairfield parents who had organized/arranged food for coaches, workers, and referees...hustled their butts off to get vendors to send extra food Friday night...and they did some on site food prep as well. It was a long night for sure, but it was the best way to handle the given situation I think.

Don't know the scoring details. Most everyone has kids out this time of year. Late Feb and March are all that matters.

Purely a curiosity question... So points wise for oshaa would this now be a one day tournament? Kudos to Fairfield for rolling it on through!

I will confirm but I believe the answer is yes. The only wrestlers that got 5 matches were in 5th place finals and in some cases it was 4. So, should be considered 1 day.

It's the OHSAA, which means they'll investigate (2 years from now) to see if any match was wrestled after 11:59 PM, thus determining if it was a 2-day event.

So true!! The HWT finals match concluded at 11:45pm and there was one match left on each mat thereafter to finish the 5th finals. All matches concluded by 11:55pm. OW and Most Pins in Least time were handed out before 12.

Probably cutting it a bit too close.

Yes. So we got an extra point for a late holiday gift. So do any 2 schools want to schedule a dual with Fairfield ( half a point per dual)?
