Again, he is assuming that Zack was arrested, based on what McMurphy wrote. When as far as he knew he wasn't. In the end, the investigation will determine Urban's fate and weather or not he did what he was supposed to do. If he did in fact lie to the media, about something that really isn't their business in the first place, then so be it. Smith should have been fired a long time ago, not because of his private life but because the receivers were terrible, and his tweets where beyond immature.

Neopolitan,
McMurphy's Do Not Compete is fulfilled tomorrow I believe. He'll begin his new job on Monday. Wouldn't really call his career on life support but you go ahead and believe whatever you want.
We are seeing the same exact trend with you and some others, but on the opposite side

Now they’re reporting that Smith was arrested in 2013 for OVI.

All the anecdotal stuff, so far, makes it sound like he and the wife were drunks and did a lot of fighting. Feel bad for the kids.

I do feel bad for the kids in this entire situation. They might not understand it right now but at some point they'll become aware.

The OVI arrest just adds another ring to this growing circus. It will be questioned if Urban told his bosses about that event as well (if Zach even told him). Based on the portion of Zach's contract that was with the article one could assume it could've been a fireable offense. Perhaps everyone knew and Zach was placed in some type of program. If nothing else it seems it was at least another red flag.

I really hope that the reporter that "broke" the OVI charge was looking both ways. Nothing says a hatchet job like having two crazy people and the reporter is only looking at the crazy on one side.

When reporters pick the winners and losers, everyone becomes a loser.

Everything reported so far says Smith never told Urban or anyone else at OSU about the OVI.

He reported the entire case from start to finish. Hard to say he didn't report it fairly. Zach reporting that he never told Urban or anyone else at OSU is obviously a sigh of relief for tOSU though I'm sure they'll still investigate it.

This past weekend Zach Smith's attorney stated he was set to meet with investigators and would ask for his job back. He can go ahead and skip the whole job thing now, and his credibility has taken a very large hit.

McMurphy? Good joke. Fair reporting makes any edits known. He has constantly removed things well after publishing without informing his readers.

Urban Meyer will not be the coach at OSU 3 years from now . He will be in the NFL . So, this may be Gene Smith's opportunity to get fresh blood in here now . If not ,Gene Smith could go down when this concludes . But,OSU is scared that if Smith ,and American African, is fired , it would set off a lot of protests and loitering and window shop breaking, Matt Campbell may be the next HC at OSU . He is from the HOF City of Canton ,Ohio and has really climbed the ranks . I would be in favor of that move if it goes that way . If not , I would say that Tom Herman will have Urban all over his face and torso .

A lot of OSU fans would be happy if Gene Smith were fired, hoffy.

I can't see anyone other than the Browns considering hiring Urban, and that's because they continuously make stupid moves. Urban seems like an obvious example of someone who excels at the college level, but who would struggle mightily to adapt to the pros.

I can't wait until this circus is concluded 4-5 days from now.

I really do not think OSU has enough guts to fire Smith . Also, I have good authority that Urban will not be the coach at OSU for much longer .Maybe this year and that will be all. He and his family are tired of always having to defend themselves over things that are out of their control . And the Browns will fire Hugh at years end ,if not before . he finally has some weaponry ,but will fail in untilization of that said weaponry . Plus,JG12 really has put Hugh in a tough spot . Look for Lovie Smith s name to start popping up .

Browns will only fire Hue if they are doing crappy. If they are doing well and showing signs of improvement they are not going to get fire of him. They can't afford to do it because of how they handle stuff in the past. So that could be off the table. I don't see Urban fitting in at the pro level. His style and how he like to have so much control doesn't fit with the pro model. Especially when certain players can have more power than the coach.

There's a coach in New England that seems to control every aspect of his team. Did he groom those skills in Cleveland ? Back to Urban. What's the consensus on his return time table ?

McMurphy didn't break the OVI story. It was the Toledo Blade who reported every public record of the case including what the outcome was. So yea I'll take that as fact.

In this case Brett McMurphy posted on twitter that the judge who reduced the charges was a member of The Ohio State University President's Club. While he may in fact be a member of said club, the judge doesn't reduce charges in Ohio. The prosecutor and lawyers work out a deal which is either then accepted or denied by the judge. And nearly all first offense OVI's in Ohio end up as Physical Control convictions.

HALF A MILLION TAX DOLLARS being spent on this investigation.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine approved $500,000 for the investigation. Sure Ohio State is paying the bill. It had to be approved because Ohio State is a public university funded by tax payer dollars. Debevoise and Plimpton (Law firm heading the investigation), is to not charge more than $1,620 per hour for their services. That doesn't include what others in the investigation are being paid or companies that have been hired to look look over emails, text, calls and other records.

You guys keep bashing McMurphy based on his edits to his Facebook post. Most occurred before he even posted the report. I'm not totally taking his side but I'm not sure there's precedent on how to release and edit a story of that magnitude via FB? I haven't followed anything since he started his new gig on Monday to see if he's done any story on it. For an upstart media company, I'd say Stadium is off to a decent start with McMurphy, Jeff Goodman and Richard Deitsch now being the face of their company. They appear to be in some sort of contract with a at least one "Big" channel in all of Ohio's larger media markets. Will be interesting to see if they form some sort of partnership with The Athletic over the next few years.
