OSU has put 6 WR is the NFL the last 3 years, I believe. Something tells me it isn't the WRs fault JT can't complete passes past 10 yards.

Exactly. Saban's point was that you rarely saw the explosive playmakers, especially downfield, like Thomas, Marshall, Smith, when JT was QB, but Cardale's arm made it possible to notice them, because they could finally be used.

Devin Smith wasn't Devin Smith until JT went out

Sweet one pass/catch sample size. That definitely proves Bluth wrong. Nevermind his yards per catch average with JT was 25.64 while with Jones he had 38.43.

Oklahoma was REALLY good (I'm not being biased because they beat Ohio State), and Oklahomas OL is the real deal. They kept Ohio States DL in check. The key (and everyone knows). Ohio States pass D was being picked apart for the second week in a row.

I love how everyone attacks JT Barrett. He's a solid QB. He has done a great job from 2014-present. He carried Ohio State to the playoffs in 2016 when they graduated all that talent.
That Michigan State game was Barrett's masterpiece. The game we keep hoping he can re-create, but unfortunately, he has never been the same since the injury against Michigan. He lost some of his quickness and confidence. He's a shell of the JT from 2014. He is pretty much a power runner/game manager now. He's gritty and I give him credit for what he does within the limits of his physical limitations, and the limitations of Urban's Tebow offense. Really, though, until Urban truly lets Kevin Wilson run the offense, expect struggles against good to great defenses.

I will agree that they are playing the wrong WR's. McClaurin and Dixon have never showed anything, and Campbell out wide is a waste. He still catches like a RB. Give me Mack, Grimes (when he's ready) and the kid from Cleveland Heights. Urban loves Victor, but he hasn't shown shiite. And if he insists on the H-back out wide, make it KJ Hill...a WR by trade. Oh, and someone tell Urban the TE's are allowed to catch passes in the games.

JT needs to be the starter. Ohio State played a juggernaut on Saturday. These guys are that good. That OL for OU will score some serious points. Ohio State barely dropped in the rankings.
He threw one bomb against Oklahoma and finished the day with 150 passing yards. Stop bringing up single throw examples like they mean anything, even Joe Bauserman had a 28 yard touchdown pass, that doesn't mean anything. He threw the ball more than 20 times exactly twice in 2015. Once was against Illinois who finished 5-7. He had more than 15 passes in only 5 games, and 3 of those were against Illinois, Rutgers and Northern Illinois who went a combined 17-21.

Burrows or Haskins. Unfortunately Urban has a man crush on Barrett, so much so that a back up never even got live game reps last year (aka Burrows) until the Buckeyes were up by 45+. That's idiotic.

Burrow has a broken wrist I believe. So it would have to be Haskins.

Believe the focus was on working on the passing game. How he didn't get injured. Haskins and Weber mopping up.

I get it, the passing game needs work before the next big game, but neglecting your RB who is absolutely on a tear seems unwise to me. Makes me nervous it will be more QB draws and keepers against PSU when really Dobbins should be getting 20-25 carries in that game.

Check Barrett's stats and OSU's offensive output against those same teams last year and you'll have your answer. Unless 1-2 offensive TDs and lots of 3 and outs is exactly what you're looking for

Ohio State is a good team with a very mediocre quarterback and a very stubborn head coach. The roster talent is plentiful

Well, last year we saw FSU score at will on Michigan, many teams ran it up on MSU, Penn State carved up Wisky and USC scored half a hundy on Penn State, while OSU's offense against each of the teams you named was like watching old people f--k. OSU can do better.

Haskins made a couple nice throws in the lone drive he had at the end of the game yesterday. I have a hard time believing he wouldn't be a better passer than JTB over the course of the season with a few games (such as yesterday's) to tune-up against weaker opponents. His arm talent is clearly superior IMO.

I agree. You could definitely see that Haskins delivers the ball downfield with a lot more zip than Barrett.

In fact, as the PD notes, 15 of JT's 25 completions were either at or behind the line of scrimmage.

http://www.cleveland.com/osu/2017/09...ions_were.html

Now, could Haskins handle the inevitable adversity he would face against Penn State and Michigan? That's hard to know at this point.

However, Haskins should be getting a lot more snaps against UNLV and Rutgers to see what he can do. JT got his record, which he absolutely deserved, IMO.

However, it's now time to be more concerned about who really gives the team the best chance to win, and you can't find that out, unless you give Haskins an opportunity to show what he can do in live action.

I feel like if Haskins was a better option Urban would have him in there. Or at least use a 2 qb system. I mean his first title at Florida he used Tebow a ton on goal line and short yardage situations with Chris Leak as the primary qb. I did like the little we saw out of Haskins yesterday.

Should see a lot of Haskins this Saturday, Army presents an unique challenge in the way they play the game so there was always a chance the Black Knights would shorten the game and not allow for a lot of mop up. UNLV not so much so...

Urban always says Barrett is a game manager and can get the team in the right play. That is great, but if the right play is to throw more than 10 yards, then it does no good to get in the right play. I think Burrow or Haskins would give teams fits with a fast tempo throwing the ball. I hope UNLV gets blown out in first qtr, so the co- 2nd string QBs can get some extra game time. I am sure Wilson is hoping Urban lets him start Haskins or Burrow/

Barrett will be the starter every game barring injury. The big QB issues will be who they choose to take over when JT is gone as, there is a big reason to believe that 2 of the 3 from Burrow, Haskins and Martel will look to transfer out if they do not win the job.
