Michigan Spending SEC Like $s on Football

1st it was taking the team to Rome for Spring Break: http://www.espn.com/college-football...-practice-rome

Now UM is the 1st team to to pay three assistants $1 million a year: http://www.espn.com/college-football...1-million-year

I guess the Michigan way is to out spend everyone else.

Not UM's or JH's fault that players are not allowed to be paid but you must admit this trip is a nice little reason to sign with Michigan.

Totally agree. I'm pretty much priced out of the market.

Don't be such a sensitive pansy. I wasn't blaming UM or JH.

Well the players shouldn't be paid either, they're getting a free tuition ffs. The budget of a university and athletic department should be one in the same. If an athletic department is making gobs of money like at Michigan it should be used to pay off other things at the school, not a facking trip to Europe

Listen, buddy, I am 74 years old and "old school" and I would not call it being sensitive or a pansy. I would call it "good manners."

Btw, if you think that this wasn't JH's idea, you're sadly mistaken.

I didn't say it wasn't JH's idea. I said I wasn't blaming him for not paying the athletes.

Let's see. I'm called overly sensitive, a pansy, can't read, ed and blind. Just the place I want to spend my time!! lol!!

It's impossible to have a civil discourse with OSU fans if you're a UM fan. I fully understand this is an Ohio board and have been respectful to all but life is too short (and mine is really short) so I will follow my wife's advice and realize you simply can't win on an Ohio site.

God bless you. Have a good life.

Well none of those have anything to do with Michigan. I'll ask again: where did I blast Michigan?

On a lot of national boards SEC fans are blasting UM as having a double standard, just a few short years ago it was all about the Michigan way and how they were going to win on their standards. Bo talking about that rusty nail in the lockerroom and how Yost once hung his hat on it and that was good enough for a Michigan Man; all that kind of holier than now BS. Now you have a program that has been pushing the boundaries on recruiting with the satellite camp fiasco, basically paying for a student group to take a European vacation for spring break, and now spending more $s on assistants than anyone else in the game. What next, over signing too? Not saying that other B1G east teams are not doing the same but at least they are not advertising this nostalgic vision of the "Right Way".

That's what I've always found funny. My buddy was stoked when they hired Harbaugh because they finally had a "Michigan man" and he was gonna go back to winning and winning the "Michigan Way."

You can't win on the field either.

Kinda funny that Ohio State fans are complaining about other programs out spendiing them...

How many other programs in Ohio are outspent by the Buckeyes? Nothing about their new academic center or workout facility is "practical."

You are every bit as much a part of the system as Michigan and the SEC. They're just smart enough to realize in this system there is no "too much money" line. You're getting outspent. It'll show on the field.

At least have a clue...
The trip was paid for by private donation most like from Stephen Ross and not out of the budget.
