Will OHSAA ban wearing Nike Vapor 4%?

Nike shoes that are supposed to improve your running performance by up to 4%. The shoe supposedly has a spring type plate.

4% of a 17-20 minute 5k is 40-48 seconds. Of they ban garmins then these should also.

Are these spikes? Or just standard running shoes?

A few years ago there were some supposedly spring-loaded high jump shoes available on the market. I believe the NFHS (not the OHSAA) ruled they were an illegal aid. Honestly, I doubt I could have picked them out in a line up.

As near as I can tell, you have to have a major contract with Nike to get a pair of these at the moment. So, if any Ohio runners are wearing them, they may be ineligible for not being amateurs.

Seriously though, I suspect the reason they haven't been released by Nike is because the IAAF hasn't decided if they are legal yet for their competitions. If the IAAF decides they are legal, I wouldn't expect the NFHS (or the OHSAA) to rule differently. If the IAAF decides they aren't legal, then Nike may never release them.

Sorry, I guess they are available. I still stand by my serious point...if the IAAF decided they are legal, I don't expect the NFHS to say differently.

Is this 4% better than kids that wear Nike to train in now vs other brands? Most of our kids that train in Nike end up injured and most end up in some sort of boot. So, if it is compared to other Nike shoes, 40% wouldn't even be all that impressive. I think that would just be being able to walk.

If you would have worn these shoes in high school, you still would have sucked.

Hope this helps.
