Steubenville vs Hubbard Week 12

Onto week 12 for Hubbard (10-1) coming off a 51-21 win vs Indian Creek. Steubenville (10-1) took care of a good Buchtel team 38-13. Hubbard cleaned it up after a very subpar 1st half where they only led 28-14. Hubbard has issues in the secondary and will need to clean it up in a huge way to have a chance this week. The Eagles remain strong vs the run. Hubbard didn't miss Morales vs IC. Would be nice to have him this week. Thoughts on location for this one?

Would love Fitch.

But most likely Boardman. They love putting us there against Youngstown area teams

Salem might be a bit too small.

Boardman if I had to guess.

Salem has a boatload of standing room, and there are temporary bleachers on the south end that the students use during the regular season.

Didn't Big Red have one there last year?

Yes and it was terrible. Sucks getting to a game and having to stand at the gate at 5pm to get a seat

Not enough seating and harder to get to. Anything near Rt. 11 is an easier trip even if it is a few more miles for either team.

The one gate thing does suck, but I'm surprised the seats all filled honestly. Usually enough people choose to stand on the home side along the fence to make actual seats a non-issue.

As for Minerva, Big Red played Salem there 3 years ago or so, I think it ended up working fine? But if I recall the weather was total crap which may have helped. I know everyone was shocked when that one didn't go to New Philly like the 2009 game did.

Parking at Salem is possibly worse than Hubbards situation. Went to the Canfield SVSM game there last year. Had to park at a gas station 2 blocks from the stadium.

LOL. It was closed thankfully. I followed a few others who also parked there and walked over. Got towed at YSU one time though.

I would guess boardman, and then Fitch. Hubbard isn’t a Youngstown team they are Trumbull county so boardman fits perfect

The church lot across from the stadium is as clustered as a tic tac bottle. You might have been better off at the gas station.

Must have been Smith Oil to close that early, still surprised you didn't get towed, lol.

There are 2 municipal lots west of the stadium that are safer bets, but yeah it's a couple block walk still. If they put it in Salem I'll have to look for my 12ish year old parking tips image I made with Google Maps and Paint that I used to post in JJ Huddle.

Boardman makes more sense, but who knows who put in this year. Salem has a new AD, for all we know they didn't.

Smith Oil I believe that was it! Salem is also a possibility for Canfield vs Akron East I would think. McDonald will also need a venue for their Moggy matchup. Will be interesting to see who gets the bids.

I agree that Boardman is probably the venue.
As for the game. ďIf you wanna be the man, you gotta beat the man. Woo!Ē This is Hubbardís chance to be the man. But weíll see about that

Hubbard playing at Boardman is hardly a neutral site. But it doesn’t matter to us. The OHSAA never accommodates SHS when it comes to travel or post regional seeding. Remember all..... we are the Defending State Champions and until someone takes it from us we are the champs. Hubbard....... do you have what it takes? Can you play a physical game? And when things go bad or difficult can you stem the tide. You have not been tested or challenged in 10 wins..... how will you respond when tested? I think how those questions are answered on the field Saturday night will determine if Howland can win. Because one thing is certain.... actually several things are certain.... you will be tested and challenged, Big Red will be physical and Big Red is going to take away something you do well. I expect a really good close game

I felt a lot better about this one in the middle of the year knowing the Eagles would have to be perfect to knock off the defending champs. Hubbard has to play their best game in their history this week. I think the Eagles size and depth can give them a chance but again they need to play perfect! Have to love the opportunity though. Need to beat the best to be the best. Go Eagles!

Hope the Big Red are focused a little more on Hubbard and a little less on Howland.

Whoops....I was walking and posting.... Iím just now figuring out how to walk a chew gum! No disrespect intended. Big Red fans get mad at me when I try to show respect to the foe, but I said from week 7 on the Hubbard was the team to beat. Like I said, you havenít been challenged in any of your wins. Going to be a very tough out for The. Mighty Big Red.

Unless this game goes to an Akron area site like Lake, Boardman seems the most central available. There is nothing else farther south to accommodate Steubenville. Hubbard hasn’t played a Boardman team since the 60s in the old Steel Valley Conference. So it’s neutral and about a 30-35 minute drive. I’d guess an hour for Steubenville. They’ve had a 10 home games. It’s their turn to take a little bus ride. It’s a little further but it’s a Saturday game. Get there early and loosen up. They seem to do fine taking the ride over to Canton in week 15 all the time! LOL.

Crimson and black,I get what you say about neutral sites but are there any venues that can accommodate not too far from Steubenville that would be fair ?

ICBM,I know Hubbard played Boardman in 79 so it might have been since the 80s however your point is valid.
