I've seen some pretty awful football, but that was just about the worst team I have ever seen.

No idea what they were doing at practice for 6 months

We scrimmaged them and I thought there could be some promising athletes there. They weren't good by any means but I honestly thought they could win a game or two.

Agreed. Zero identity on offense. Putting Hicks outside and trying to make him some type of Gronk was ridiculous. Then lining up like Mooney circa 1980 with 2018 Red Devil personnel was ludicrous. I honestly thought Coach Jennings showed promise at Valley in 16. But he made a bad situation worse this year at Campbell

I saw that scrimmage on film and I thought the same thing. Then I saw them week 1 against us (VCS) and I thought " not with that offense" I believed they scored 2 offensive TDs against 1st string defenses all year

Itís obvious guy had no clue. They will struggle next season too. This year was essentially a wasted year.

No. Jennings coached VCS in 2016 only. Campbell and VCS played in 17 and 18

Interesting, he said all the right things, but product was real bad. Interested to see if they get candidates. If you can get a guy to come invest time into middle school kids you can turn this around. There's a lot of talent there. My dream big candidate would be kempe!

The biggest problem at Campbell is getting the kids to buy in. It seemed like maybe they were with Jennings, at least in the beginning. He just didn't have a clue what to do football wise. The problem is that dropping coach again is going to hurt, but 0-10 hurts just the same. Its a catch 22.

It will be interesting to see who they have in mind for thier next coach. There is some talent thier, but depth has been a big issue.

Thanks. If you do I don't think you would be disappointed. This is a completely different team than the one that started the season. I have a pretty good feeling about this week.

They had maybe 25 kids on the sideline when I was there for week 9.

By then the offense was some little kid running around in circles and eventually throwing the ball straight up in the air and hoping someone would catch it.

they were playing 2-8 champion that night and they never even got close to scoring at all

it was Hall of Fame night to boot

I'm guessing that night the decision was made

You could say that

You could say that Mooney tighten up their standards as well

BUT.....

You should say that those kids aren't heading to either Mooney or Ursuline anymore

Is it any surprise Mooney and ursuline's slides mirrored East's good season?

look at the assistants on the sideline at east and it's pretty easy to figure what actually happened

But no one was at that game.

The Champion game had a lot of influential people there.

Looking at blitz I count 39 kids for pictures. I know there is always attrition, especially in a losing season, but 35%
I am thinking B Jennings is a good guy, a good adult role model, but not a head coach. And there is nothing wrong with that

Totally agree.
You have to give the guy some time.
Struthers gave plenty of coaches more time than they should've.

Give him time, because there is talent there.

It's going to be interesting to find out who the applicants are. Whomever takes over is faced with a daunting challenge. Kempe is out there. But he is older. He must be in his 60's. If by some chance he applies (it would surprise me because of the state of the program), and is chosen, he will have to stick around for a few years. The entire program needs rebuilt from the bottom up. It would be great to get a coach who has interest in the pee wee program, a guy who gravitates to the pee wee coaches, and instills his schemes from the get go, through middle school, and on up. The 7th and 8th grade program has been somewhat successful. But it's led by a coach who does not have his heart in Campbell despite teaching in the system for several years. I will not mention his name. He does not "coach up" the kids. A lack of a freshman team for the past few years has only made matters worse. Freshmen end up on the varsity. And those freshmen are lost fundamentally because of the lack of proper coaching at the lower level. Limited numbers (I believe there were 24 kids left on the team for week 10 after starting the season with 32....including freshmen), meant only a sporadic schedule of jayvee games could be scheduled. All of those issues make it tougher on the varsity staff. In my opinion Jennings only set the program back further. His football knowledge is not up to par. And it showed for 10 straight weeks.

Scheme just didn’t make sense for the players Campbell has. No way they should ever lose to champion or newton falls, they had the players to win those games, just weren’t out in a good position to succeed. It will be interesting to see who they bring in

I hear they are going to announce Brian Shaner as the new head football coach at Mineral Ridge on Monday at the board meeting.

Seems like a very nice guy. Motivated too. Never said there was anything wrong with that.

But the football they were playing was just terrible. I've never in my life seen anything that bad. Never. At any level.
