They are losing a lot of kids to Girard, which has caused the tension that between them that is ending their rivalry for now. That’s a different topic for a different thread though

Today is gameday! Good luck to both squads, hopefully is a clean, hard-hitting game with no injuries. And just a bit more luck on the Devils side!

Good Luck Kingpin and your Devils. Although I do have a good friend from Mogadore.

I might have to make the trek up to Aurora tonight to see the action. It should be great game!

Good luck tonight to Kingpin’s Devils.
We know you can knock them off.

We know y’all are good at basketball.
No need to think about that just yet.

Best of luck!

Thanks Raider and Strutherfan, always great to see support from the local schools. Now it’s time to get bundled up and head on up to Veterans Stadium. Love being able to play into November!

I am puzzled though how this team is D4 just 7 year ago and now they are D6? I understand OHSAA added D7 but even if Norwayne was on the verge of D4-5 numbers in 2011 how they would still not be D5 today? Complete down turn in boys in 7 years...
Also competitive balance may have helped Norwayne. I do not believe they are open enrollment and dropped a division like Coldwater did for that reason.

14-7 Moggy at half. Wildcats pretty much dominated so far, devils got a td with 6 seconds left to keep contact.

Great season for the Blue Devils. I think they squeezed everything they could out of this season and went as far as they could.
Great win for Mogadore. You guys are amazing. Just reload year after year.
Keep it going next week against Kirtland!!!

Congrats to the wildcats, your team D is fast and amazing at flying to the ball. Execution on offense was excellent too. The biggest thing was making the big stops when it mattered. 2 huge 4th and shorts. The one in the 3rd Quarter ended the biggest threat, McDonald was deep in wildcat territory looking to tie and get all the momentum but was stuffed short. McDonald was very uncharacteristically penalty prone all night with silly false starts and a couple holding calls. Unfortunate way to end a great season. Maybe one day can beat those guys.

Agreed, just lost to a better team, no shame in that. Needed our A game and some breaks and didn’t get either. Still a great season and a team to be proud of, they fought till the bitter end.

I would say Mogadore is a 14 point underdog against Kirtland. But if anyone outside the MAC can beat Kirtland, Mogadore has the best shot.

As a Mogadore fan he impressed me with his toughness. Was obviously hurt in the first quarter on one good hit while throwing, and played every offensive and defensive play while holding his ribs between plays. He still ran the ball effectively on offense and had no problem coming up to help make tackles on D.

Tough kid.

#10 Josh Celli has been the heart and soul of the teams the last few years and showed tonight why. We’ve seen him play through injuries multiple times throughout the years like tonight, he’s going to be sorely missed on Friday nights next season.

Mogadore continues dominance of Mahoning county small school teams. Would still like to see McDonald and Western Reserve in the PTC county division. Get rid of Valley and Lake Center ( no football). Would be good move for both so they wouldn't be forced to play the likes of Sebring, Waterloo, Letonia, and a few of those others in their league.

McDonald's QB was a gamer. It was a different game after he was obviously slowed a bit by the rib injury. Mogadore was able to focus a bit more on the RB, although he seemed to get his yards. Like has already been said, the Cats' passing and defensive stops on 4th down were the key.

You got it those team give McD zero. I been on the soapbox for years wildcat71. I wish McD had the Mogadore attitude but we don’t and never will. If these two team meet again in a future playoff, you will see the same thing again 14+ pts win. We are the definition of insanity.

in the the last 2 Mogadore -Rootstown games, Mogadore's QB was 14/33 with 147 with 1 TD and 1 Int. Rootstown's was 19/40 for 346 yards with 2 TD and 3 Int. Steger was also 1st Team All Conference and HM All Inland Distract last year.
I guarantee Moggy’s QB stat line tonight was better than Rootstown’s last week. I only counted 4 incompletions, so somewhere around 17/20 for close to 300 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. 2 of the 4 incompletions were tipped at the line.

These are not close to official, just guesstimating based on watching the whole game.

We all agree and McDonald does much better scheduling out of league than before, but they have to much loyalty to the small schools in the league and it kills them. There’s too many weeks where the games are over at half.

The 7 yard out was there all night. I’m surprised it wasn’t run way more. McD Did not really have a answer for it.

Nice run McDonald. You guys had a great season.
Nothing to be ashamed of losing to a team as consistently good as Mogadore.
You guys truly represent the best of Ohio high school football.
You should be very proud of your accomplishments every year.

See you guys in the Fieldhouse before long.
We have Sebring, Lo’Ville and Windham coming there along with Hickory and Sharon.

Kingpin, was it usual for Williams to go for it on 4th down this year? I was a little surprised he went for it on that first possession in his own territory. But that second one and then Mogadore hitting the big pass play for a 70? yard TD was the dagger that ended the game.

Congratulations to the Blue Devils on a GREAT season! I hope you keep scrimmaging the Raiders...maybe we can get a game in the future.

He’s been much more aggressive this year all around coaching, and I think it was beneficial for the most part but it bit them on the first drive. The one in the 3rd Q was a back breaker. McDonald was building momentum and looking poised to tie it up, that one was a no brainer to go for it, and credit Moggy for making a play, we gave it to our guy and they stepped up.

It was a great season, you always want more, but 11-1 with wins over Springfield, Reserve, and Rootstown made for a great fall. I do hope they continue scrimmaging, no doubt in my mind it’s been beneficial for both squads the last 2 years. We got some good talent returning and them seeing a team as good as SR will only help them get better (and with a little luck hopefully falling to D7). Of course a game would even be better, it sucks that the series start up only lasted 1 year due all the league shenanigans.
