ccrunner609,
I have State meet programs for every year from 1988 through 2017 and according to the programs schedule of events, All running events were in their own division...as they are now. the order of divisions changed every year, but if you were in a running event, your event was only followed by an event in your division of the opposite gender. Unless it was the 4 x 400 as that is followed by the 1st event of another division.
I will look again at 1991 when I get home after practice...
there has been times where weather changed times and locations of field events, but I don't remember a change in order in running events.

I do remember several districts staggering divisions within one meet. or having a section A and Section B in at the same time.

The limited rest prior to having both genders together must have been really tough on those trying to double.

The only difference in the scheduling during that time span sould9be prior to the Ohsaa adding the boys 4x200 relay. I remember them running boys first and switchkng8to girls first after the 4x200

100% correct. Girls were first and then after the 4x200 the boys were first.

So the boys triple in the 1600, 800, and 3200 back before the 4x200 was more impressive. After the 800, was 1 heat of 800 girls, 2 heats of the 200's, and then back on the track. So boys tripling before the 4x200 in Conference meets were very impressive triples.

That is why Franek's triple was very, very, very impressive at state. At most 15 minutes before the gun of the boys 800 to the girls 3200.

The schedule for the state meet is girls 800 starts at 2:25 and start of girls 3200 is 2:40. 15 min gun to gun.

I've never liked how they do it. The girls get short end of the rest stick.

I like how at District and Regional meets there is a break to make sure those running sprint events have 15 min between events, but distance girls have less than that 800 to 3200. At the Regional meet, my daughter had a terrible time running the 800 and 3200. Funny thing is we finally got smart and ran her 3200 , 4x400 which was easier for her.
