Yep. Well represented for sure.

I will be going for the weekend to cheer on all the Thomas Worthington athletes - Arjun Jha in the boys mile, Carina Napoleon in the Freshman girls mile, Andy Payne in the boys 5000 and then the TWHS girls 4x800 relay team of Carina Napoleon, Tori Banks, Lydia Miller, and Cassidy Shaver.

Lots of other Ohio athletes to cheer for too, so it should be fun.

BTW, great race by Payne to beat Beucler in the 3200 at the state meet. Andy seems to have really grown as a runner over the past few years. You've all got to be really excited about that. I'll be pulling for him to get under 9:00 during the outdoor season. Best of luck to him.

I watched the replay of the race. The kick was lethal. Johnson led for the majority of the race before getting passed by 3 or 4 guys in the last ⅓. He started losing a little contact and I thought he had no chance of winning. I really thought he was beaten just before going into the last lap. After that he unleashed his kick. I would like to know how fast he ran the last 200.

Andy Payne also ran a good race and he ran smart also. He was immediately at the rear from the gun but maintained contact, remained patient, and worked his way up through the field gradually picking off guys.

Beavercreek's Taylor Ewart won the 1 mile race walk today in 6:49. She was 27 seconds up on 2nd place and had a faster time than the winner of the boy's race. The sophomore set an overall national record and now owns the national freshman and sophomore records. She runs in the 2 mile championship heat tomorrow. Ewart is a talented runner. Like her older brother, Ben, she has dabbled in the steeple also.

Coffman's Abby Steiner has moved on from the prelims of the 60 while recording the 2nd fastest time of day of 7.40.

Abby also moved on to the 200 finals with the second fastest time 23.85. (And wow that fastest time was fast. Freshman Tamari Davis ran a 23.24.)

It looked like Abby slowed ever so slightly in the last 5-7 meters. I would say she could have gone a few tenths faster but moving on is all that matters.

Kings girls go 9:12.93 to take 5th in the 4x8.

A "few tenths"? More like a few HUNDREDTHS. HUGE difference between the two!

Yes, a few tenths. I do realize the difference between the two. Perhaps you thought it was only a few hundredths. I thought it looked like more. She is capable of going a few tenths faster because she has done it before.

Horter won the mile. Steiner was second in the 200. (For what itís worth, she did run a few tenths faster.)

I didn't watch any of the coverage. When you said she slowed "ever so slighty", that means a few hundredths to me. A few tenths of a second is about a 5-6 foot difference between where you are and where you could have been. That is HUGE in sprinting terms.

Yeah...thanks. He worked hard for that victory. Eastern Relays could be an amazing 3200 race.

The announcer at one point said Chad's last 200 was 27 something.

Andy was as far back as 12th about midway, and then maybe about 8th with 800 to go. A strong last 800 got him the 6th place and All American. Howland's Vincent Mauri was 7th, so excellent race for him too, and well under his cross country PR.

New Balance Nationals

The Davidson Girls ran the 4x1Mile in 20:39.66. Finished third.
Granville ran 20:33.25. Finished second.
Breen, from Troy, MI, ran 20:31.47.
Granville took the lead in the third leg, and had an anchor who runs 5:00. But the anchor from Breen had run a 4:48 split the day before in the medley relay. Too good!
