Order of events-OHSAA

So last year the OHSAA sent an email to all district sites stating that the schedule to be ran is like the one I posted here:

http://swdab.org/Track/District%20Tr...ule%202017.pdf

THe problem is that the order of events is wrong. I heard at the clinic that the schedule was going back to the correct one but I find it nowhere.

Can someone enlighten us?

No 1600 prelim? Need to keep room for that just in case your district is large.

I will e-mail Dale Gabor (OHSAA) and Diane Krumpak (OATCCC) with the suggestion of keeping to the regular order of events...with the 4 x 800 first. I was told that this would be the order of events this year. However, District Athletic Boards or Meet managers "may" go with what they see fit. So, make sure you communicate to those entities your concerns.

regardless of the 1600 or not......running an all out final in the 4x8 in the middle of the track meet is counter productive to running other events that the 4x8 kids run:

4x2
open 400
300h
800 semi final
4x4 semi final

are all possibilites for these athletes. It makes it reall tough for DII and DIII schools to run quality events on day 1 when you have 4x8 kids running without much of a break.

I agree 100%. Very similar to the State Indoor Meet. Same problem but the state likes a small condensed meet. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ for officials, timing company and renting the facility.

4x800- 5:15 pm start
1600- 6:00pm start

Realistically athletes have about 40 minutes.

The state indoor meet caters to the sprint schools heavily. And more realistically caters to the jumps/field event schools with the addition of hammer and triple jump. I am not against any event. But to win the state indoor meet you need field events and sprints. It would be VERY hard to win solely as a distance school. No distance runner could do 3 events let alone double.

1600- 6:00pm
800- 6:35pm-- so maybe 29 minutes between the finish and start.
