I would figure the favorites are JFK, Cuyahoga Heights & Dalton.
I don't know how much JFK & Heights are returning but Dalton will have 7 or 8 returning starters on both sides of the ball.

JFK will have some new faces in the trenches on both sides, but size there may actually increase.

Skill positions lose some all-state performers, but 3 returning WR's are seniors , QB returns, FB played significant minutes as an injury replacement in the playoffs, very athletic incoming freshmen class-some could see quality time.

Defense yielded around 6 ppg for most of last season-so this year's Blue Storm has big shoes to fill.

Weeks 11-13 will be brutal for the playoff teams in R25, but winner should come out of it battle tested.

Wow what a region. How do Lisbon, Toronto, and Wellsville look this year?

JFK will probably have one of, if not the biggest lines in D7 this year. Experience at QB is going to help the transition to some newer RBs. Good speed is still a big advantage and coaching might just be what helps the Eagles make another big run this year.

Cuy. Hts loaded this year. If new QB pans out, best team in school history. They are the favorite in d7...

So, I'm assuming they return quite a bit from last years team?

Graduate in the neighborhood of 18 seniors and JV team wasn't good. They have a few very good players back but hard to imagine they can reload...unless of course you see some "new" faces which you will.

You have no clue what your talking about, but that's ok. You'll figure it out pretty quick.

Haha okay, well enlighten me Mr Jaws on what part of my statement was inaccurate. Did they not graduate a boat load of seniors, many of whom were 3 year starters? I saw their JV team once and it was awful, which isn't a big deal but goes to show there wasn't a bunch of talent there. And they also have the ability to bring in a player or two.

If C. Heights and JFK are as good as you say they are, the rest of the region is in trouble. I do not think JFK will be nearly as good unless they have numerous transfers, which could happen. They graduated a ton of talent. I do not know much about C. Heights other than watching them last year on their run on TV. They were very good and if they have a lot back, will be tough for anyone to beat. Toronto graduated a lot, Wellsville, has a new coach and lost some kids as well to graduation and transfer. Lisbon will be good but must also replace quite a bit of graduated talent.

Sure wish MOGADORE was back in D 7 this region. They graduated some key playersand will be young. They are in a tough D6 region with Kirtland.

As always, the early litmus test for Lisbon will be the Mogadore scrimmage. That's always a good indicator of the type of team we'll have.

None of this matters, this region and quite likely division belongs to Cuy. Hts this year. They are absolutely loaded this year with almost all of their starters back from last seasons state runner up team. They do have to replace a very good QB but they have always been successful in doing this. This is the best team in scool history. Nobody in this region will come within three scores of them.

I don't know about the three score thing but Cuyahoga Hts will be the heavy favorite to come out of this region. My alma mater, Aquinas, had a great team last year that beat DV State Champion Canton Central Catholic and lost by 1 point to DVII State Champion Warren JFK on a failed two point conversion in overtime got dominated by CH in the playoffs. CH does lose their outstanding QB but return most of their studs from last year, they very well may walk through this Region.

The Division 7 Region 25 Championship is a lifetime away. Many, Many things can happen between now and then. Granted Heights may be the strong favorite, but a lot can happen between now and then.

Looks like they lost Lowther, Combs, Stefanko, Frye, McDanial and Harris...and their kicker.

It'll be interesting to see how all these teams comes together...it's as clear as mud right now. LOL!

All good players, the ILB was maybe the best player on the team. In the state game, he made play after play. The Kicker was a great weapon and Stefanko was a good one also. This year they have a potential player of the year in Drummond. D'Orazio at FB is big and a beast; he will probably move to ILB this year and be tough to block. The OL/DL will have some size and experience, Shafer is a very good one. They are lacking some depth but skill positions are as good as anyone in division 7. Overall, they should roll.

The fact that powerhouse Leetonia Bears haven't been mentioned in this thread is ridiculous.

Newbury Blacknights are going to be a solid team. I won't predict them to win region but I will not be shocked to see them get a 6-8 seed. Schedule is favorable for them as they play in a weak conference and they have some key returning players from a 6-4 team. If they can get by J.M. they have a shot at 7-3 or even 8-2

Reading this brings to mind 2015...Mathews put together a nice season in the NAC (8-1 or so)...played Toronto in the first round and got annihilated...then Toronto got absolutely smashed by a young JFK team in the second round which then got outclassed by Mogadore in the district championship...

Making the playoffs and advancing in the playoffs are 2 very separate things

I know this might belong on another thread but it sounds like the CH - Kirtland game should be a dandy this year.

Agree and this is a very likely scenario for Newbury if they get in. Still for some communities just getting in once every 20 years is a big deal. I recall Fairport getting in a couple of years back and seeing that tiny town rally behind their team. They got beat in round one pretty badly but the way the town backed them created a lifetime of good memories.
