Thanks, err, I think? Lol. When I'm old beyond old I'll still be in the stands, binoculars in one hand, and an earbud in listening on the radio.

Cannot believe I left him out. Had it not been for Michael Warren he would have been the Irish all-time rusher (TRAC too I believe) which is why I put him at RB rather than DB where he was recruited.

Extremely talented league that I'd put up against anyone.
Very impressive list, IB.

Burkhardt went on to kick at BGSU for a couple of seasons.

The one skill kid on the list that I just couldn't understand why he didn't get 25+ touches a game was the Mogalu kid from Findlay. I remember a game at CCHS that I held my breath every time he touched it, only touched it maybe 8-10 times.

On paper, I am not sold on the new coach at SJJ. Was he a coordinator? Has he ever ran a program? What experience does he have with high school players?

I wonder what coaches were approached? Seems like a great job for someone at a catholic school that won at a lower level.

Definitely miss my Toledo days!! Learned a lot growing up there and looking up to coaches like Dick Wagoner (Rogers), Fred Beier (SJJ), and Nick Toth (CCHS). Love my boys at RHS!! They bought into the hope and future we tried to sell to them and they put in the work to Get Better Every Day!! It's a lot of work, stress, frustration, and pain LOL coaching and mentoring in the city, but there is NOTHING more rewarding than seeing lives change and futures brightened and boys grow into responsible young men!! Proud to have played a small part in the history of Toledo high school football! On a side note, I will never forget eastisbest coming in to pick up a playoff t-shirt from me in my classroom when we qualified for the state playoffs at Rogers!! Good luck to all the young men in Toledo and Keep Getting Better Every Day!! Create Your Legacy!!

IB,

Great job with the list. That had to take some time to complete. I think that Cheatham Norrils belongs on this list somewhere.

Had the TRAC started a year earlier that list would have some substantial additions.

Goings (RB - CCHS), Henderson (LB - CCHS - Old Dominion - wrestling), Boles (OL - CCHS - Illinois), Cameron (OL - CCHS - Toledo), Hayes (DE - Whitmer - OSU), Reaper (OL - Whitmer - Findlay), Miller (OL/DL - SJ - Michigan), Steinmetz (TE - BGSU/Lourdes), Norrils (WR/DB - SJ - Toledo), Brown (DB - Fremont Ross - Michigan)

Looking at record, 2010 was arguably the strongest year and these teams were still in the TCL. The upswing began before TPS shut down athletics. So, kudos there.

2011 would be the first TRAC year, correct? Six years, time to start thinking HOF, isn't it?

Hall of Fame, supposing 10 all-sports nominees, football gets two. Who gets them from 2011's class?

I would give a vote for Jody Webb for sure. Also won some hardware in Track and Field if IIRC.

It would be tough not to include Chris Wormley, who stood out in football, basketball, and track. Jody Webb fits here as well then Storm Norton. 11' was a down year for CCHS by Irish standards. 12' would be a mix of Panther/Irish and then it would be a bunch of Irish talent.

Hayes and Loving would grab spots on the boy's b-ball side. I think I'll dig, see what was happening in the other sports.

I'm all for seeing kids from Toledo do well, but I wouldn't draft any of those guys in the first round. And If i was Kizer, I wouldn't want to go to Cleveland or SF...NFL death sentence.

The cool thing now-a-days for experts is to point out the guy that everyone has not seen. All the pundits like to point out why Goff should be #1 when in fact any 12 year old fan would rather have Prescott.

Every year, at every position, by seasons end you know who can play. And then the combine happens and everything gets skewed for the worse.

I've seen both Kizer and Trubisky play in person in HS and on TV since and my money is on Kizer regardless of what "pundits" say. That kid stands tall in the pocket with presence, can move, and has a big time arm.

TRACFootball, the Browns have to get better at some point. Their last resurgence was with an Ohio kid at QB why not now with Kizer OR Trubisky?

I'm fairly convinced the Browns have pointed a gun at their own head. It's a functional mess because of ownership, treating it like it's another truck stop. He should sell out to Gilbert or to home grown Dolan.

I agree. And the worst part is their fan base is so darn loyal that they can be a functional mess and still make $$$.

A pair of Central Catholic standouts received offers from Eastern Michigan today. It's Dallas Fields' 5th offer...and Sean Blue's 1st offer, very happy to see him get his first.

I'm sticking to my original comment, never a bad idea when you have the best QB, best RB and an experienced staff returning. SJJ has a number of DIV 1 college talent and a stud frosh QB in the works, Bancroft is bragging up this years squad and Central Catholic lost two of it's most talented players in the last 20 years, lots of high end skill to replace on Cherry.

If St. Francis can flip three games and be in contention a few more, that would be a promising start.

It's a shame the league has become so stagnant. Or is that just an impression?Lots of competitive promise at the beginning but Whitmer and CCHS have pulled so far ahead,.. I thought Lima might have more consistency. Any impressions on what happened at SJJ? Fremont still has the athletes showing up in other sports, just looking for that right combination of coaching I guess. Findlay did into play-offs though didn't they?

was very impressed with Coach Griffin's first year at Lima Senior. Losing Thomas, Flowers and Stafford plus Fell and still went 6-4 and all four losses were by a combined 22 points is pretty impressive IMO.
