Very quiet here.

I think the Bengals have camp this week and next week.

If anyone can post information about any news that comes out of the camps or even in general I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Lake is returning a ton of starters. It's a toss up
Padua has a motivated polo, who I think can and will out coach carter again this year.
I agree with the rest.

Not sure what to expect this year with the Bengals, just hoping that the kids are put in the best spot to succeed by the coaching staff. Might mean less platooning than what the coaching staff did LY...

Any idea on the scrimmage schedule? Will it be Hudson and SVSM again TY?

I'm not as bullish on Lake Catholic though they are due to turn this thing around after what has seemed like an overly long run of non-playoff football for that program. Padua needs to step up and make the playoffs too, they are heavily invested in Polo and those 2 Ls at the end of LY that kept them from their 1st playoff appearance stick out like a sore thumb. Yeah it's nice to beat Benny in their down years but the Bruins needs more than the coach getting revenge to claim they are heading in the right direction.

Keep an eye on Buchtel, they have a legitimate BCS level recruit in Darvon Hubbard and he can take over a game by himself like Baker did his Junior year.

I thought that I heard something about scrimmaging Bedford this year but please verify as that was second hand information.

I'll try to call around and see if any scrimmage schedule is out there yet.

Padua was a fluke last year. Polo had a point to prove. Welo has a year under his belt, knows what to expect and has new O-Coordinator & D-Coordinator. The only worry in my mind is the O-Line. Who will step up?

Carter didn't have a point to prove that he was the better, more qualified choice?

Auggie beat me to it. I heard last night the same two teams for a scrimmage.

Also heard a 7 on 7 game is taking place next week but not sure where or against who.

If anyone can fill in the blanks to the above information thanks in advance.

The real problem with programs like Padua, NDCL and Walsh is they just don't have the athletes at all positions to compete in the modern HS game. Not only do you have these wide open offenses spreading the field out looking for mismatches so that speedsters can break these long HR style TDs but almost all games are now played on field turf so the surfaces emphasize speed over brawn. No more mud bowls to level the playing field like the old days.

Padua defeated Cleveland Benedictine last fall and NDCL has been in the playoffs multiple times in the last four years. While they may not be recruiting the athletes that are enrolling at Benedectine, they both seem to be just fine handling what you call the modern game. A game which seems to include endless complaining about a first year HIGH SCHOOL coach and young AD. That is, until big brother shuts you up.

What in the world are you talking about? Benedictine had an awful season last year but managed to beat Notre Dame (arguably their best team ever) and lost to Padua by a touchdown. Credit where it's due, Notre Dame knocked off a big name program in Mooney in the playoffs, so perhaps in some ways they seem to have adapted to the "modern game," but let's not jump the gun on Padua yet.

The name I keep hearing is Marty Hyland. I believe he was the AD at CCC back in the day.

Polo supposedly wasn't asked to be the HC at Bennie. He had the ax to grind & prove he was qualified to be the HC. Carter didn't have an ax to grind, he was getting his feet wet and now knows what to expect as Benedictine's Head Football Coach.
I think, as many have said, the O-Line will make or break this team. There are many good skilled position athletes on this team. The team needs to gel as one unit and play for each other. As a wise man once said,"there is no I in team" This years edition of Bengal's football will need to play together & have each other's backs at every corner to allow for great success.

J B does not make the best sense. Why? The school needs a seasoned veteran at the AD position. Not someone who is learning the ropes as he goes. You have to break a few eggs to be a successful AD. You have to walk the tight rope, playing in the gray area to win. When you are learning the game you are tentative. When you have been there before, you know what you can & can't do immediately. I hope whoever they hire is a past AD or someone with business sense to help make the needed strides an AD must do to win. The new AD also must love the school and plan on giving the school a long term commitment. Younger guys are looking to move. Look what just happened. Please take the time to make the right hire.

Stopped by the Frosh practice the other day. Great to see Doc Bossu on the field. As the new President, it is great that he is getting to know the kids on the football team. Coach Koby was out there as well...great to see some true Men of Benedictine out there showing the Class of 2021 the way.
