The addition of the Wayne County schools certainly adds some depth to this region. Not sure what to make of the region yet though with regards to who might make the playoffs and who might be the favorites.

Teams moving out of the region from the past 2 years are:
Warrensville Hts. (moved up to DIV)
Gates Mills Hawken (moved up to DIV)
Rocky River Lutheran West (moved up to DIV)
Andover Pymatuning Valley (moved down to DVI)
Brooklyn (moved down to DVI)
Middlefield Cardinal (moved down to DVI)
Rootstown (moved down to DVI)
East Palestine (moved down to DVI)
Youngstown Liberty (moved down to DVI)

...look at how weak their schedule is...with an exemption of playing Brookfield and the super softening of the schedule they could be 4-1 to start the year. It might not go well after that haha

This will be Central's region to lose again.

1. Central
2-10 Does NOT Matter but here are the likely (usual) suspects.

Gilmour
Manchester
Chippewa
Northwestern
VASJ (If they can get into the postseason look out)
South Range
Garrettsville
Labrae
Black River
maybe Triway or Orrville

Wickliffe will be a top seed in this region. They will be good this year

Overall, the makeup and depth of this region is very similar to where it has been for a few years. That being said, I think the addition of Chippewa to this region adds competition and will be a force to reckon with in the playoffs. Manchester will be there too, but until they figure out how to modernize their offense, or they get a bunch of studs, they aren't equipped for the playoffs. South Range was very impressive in some of their games last year, but then looked lost in others.

Obviously the favorites of this region would be Central, but that is assuming they make the playoffs. Their schedule is one the most brutal and I am thinking 5 wins maybe gets you in the playoffs and six definitely. However, for them to make another run this year, they will have to survive the year without significant injuries and get markedly better each week. They are replacing 10 starters on defense and I think about eight on offense. It will be a fun season to watch!

If I remember correctly, Triway returns something like 8-10 starters on each side of the ball from their 7-3 season a year ago. It will be interesting to see how the new coach gels the team into his new system.

Good list...although I would add Crestview to the list as a usual playoff team. Last year was a bit of an anomaly for the Rebels. They were really young last year, so they should bounce back with a solid year this fall.

As an independent, Crestview's schedule is fairly challenging this year. Will the games they win generate enough points to qualify?

09/01 A Struthers
09/08 H Akron North
09/16 A Warren John F. Kennedy

Boy, that's a tough question to answer Slippery. I'm afraid I don't know enough about some of their opponents to say whether they will generate enough computer points for them. But if they return to the form of old, they should return to a winning season and at least be threatening for a playoff birth.

They would have to beat struthers or JFK for big points, that will not happen. Have to probably go 8-2

it is good to see that buckeye elite has come to terms with struthers dismal playoff outlook and become a crestview troll. I am fair and will always give credit where credit is due..it usually isn't until week 8 when you give up on struthers having a team capable of actually winning a playoff game, but you have become older and wiser and are now aware in June. Way to go! Live and learn.

That makes no sense, they aren't going to beat struthers or JFK, hence the reason I said they have to go 8-2 to get in which they won't do... realistically in those 2 games they are going to get embarrassed.

Slip, you got a final schedule for Central yet? Last I heard, Week 6 was in flux.

Wickliffe could be playing in the regional final game against CCC this year. Wickliffe is loaded with talent after making the playoffs last year. It's obviously CCC and them everyone else but I am putting Wickliffe atop The everyone else

This would be a rematch of the 1997 playoffs (regional semifinals) if memory serves me right

I am not poor mouthing when I say that I think the playoffs are a stretch for Central. I do think they are one of the best 8 (likely 4) teams in the region but I am not sure they will accumulate the necessary points.

Wickliffe graduates 18 seniors which is roughly 50% of their roster and includes a few very physical lineman. They do return the pettaway and Fenton kids who are good but their strength was the physical play not necessarily their skill. They need to get back to the playoffs before you start talking about them winning a playoff game which they haven't done in over a decade and a half.

Yeah . . . I just don't see a playoff berth coming out of that schedule.
