Never seen a private crowd outnumber a public crowd. Literally never. But, sure man, whatever you say!

Just because OHSAA has a sizable reserve doesn't mean they're apt to tap into it if there's no signs they'll ever replenish it.

Wait, so you are suggesting that somehow they wouldn't have enough money to have the current playoffs? Renting out neutral sites? what does that mean? they don't rent them, they get paid to allow schools to host games. Sounds like baseless speculation.

Now is the publics' chance to demonstrate this. You have what you wanted - pretty much an all-public finals. No excuses this time.

He's used to D-III DeSales bringing parents and about 50 alumni/fans to a round one playoff blowout over Dover the week after they overstuff 9000 into Quaker Stadium for that long-running rivalry game between two crap teams.

I’ve been TO DeSales in week 11 where they were outnumbered 3-1 crowd wise with a 2+ hour drive for the visitors.

They're a soccer school now. They haven't won a football title since a Federal League team did. And most of their football alumni were probably officiating games somewhere else that night.
Catholics do tend to get complacent about success. Hartley didn't even have a student pit at the regional championship game this season which is pretty sad.
The smaller schools just don't have the deranged alumni turning out in masses like the Big 6. Alter vs Hartley in last years' state semifinal could have put everyone comfortably in half the visitor section. Probably more people in the prison down the street.

I assumed correctly everyone in Bellville was related.

Can you really not read? The article was about the fact that so many are dying to get out Stark county that they ran out of room in the morgue.

There’s some D2 football there - I’m proud of it. Haven’t seen any games in Belleville (the exit does have nice bathrooms though)!

I see now. Your kid couldn't go big time so you sent him to a d2 school so you could live on. That's cool. I'm sure while you're sitting around tonight at Phil's tavern drowning your brain on Miller Lite, you can say "Muh boy plays college football!" That's great for you

Fine - stay home.
This is the best venue for Ohio championships this year and moving forward.

Eh... The OHSAA record book suggests otherwise. The nine highest attended state title games ever featured at least 1 private school...

The '02 Elder-WGH game was played in a blizzard. In fact, it took us around 3 hours to get back to Warren, which is only about an hour trip in regular weather. I could only imagine how long it took to get back to Cincy. Unfortunately for me, Elder's trek back home was well worth it. They have great fans.

My wife had gone to Youngstown to her parents home while I went to the Marion Pleasant and Smithville D5 championship game. After the game I joined her. She had brought our two doxies with her to play with her Mom and Dad's doxie. Her two brothers-in-law and I were going to go back to the D1 game that night, but opted out because of the weather. I opted to head home on Sunday with the dogs and she would stay until the weather was a bit better. As I came across to 71 there was an accident close to the intersection that was going to snarl traffic. I was familiar with the area so I turned south on State route 3 heading down to 30. I found it amusing to go past parking lots and store fronts and see people in cars with road maps spread out in the front seat looking for how to get further south. (before the day of GPS)

Why would anyone go to the game to see the stadium renovations? When you're watching the game what possible difference could that make, except that the ticket cost more and the concessions cost more?

Really? I don't know. Why do you go to any other place to see it? It's a tourist attraction. It's more than just renovations to the stadium.

For what it's worth, Winton Woods cancelled classes for today and tomorrow so that students and staff would not be burdened by trying to get to and from the game within the constraints of the school day.

If the Columbus crew leave or build a new stadium I wonder what will happen to the old stadium. If turf could be put in at crew stadium and someone with the $$ like Ohio state or whoever owns the fairgrounds could buy it or rent it as it would be a perfect place to hold big games throughout the year and put in bids to host multiple playoff games. The stadium is much more intimate and they could use it for OSU soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, etc and make Ohio stadium exclusive for football. They could host special games on Thursday Friday and Saturdays. easy to get to and plenty of parking and centrally located! Probably makes too much sense though
