Oakwood is the true wildcard here because they took Franklin and Valley View to the wire but were very unimpressive the rest of the year. Monroe from what I hear has looked good, they return a lot and a Quarterback but I can't see them competing with the top 4 unless they have improved a ton.
Uh, Franklin at Fenwick Friday nite, should be very interesting. I have a feeling Fenwick is better than most people think.

For once I agree with Hoser. I think Fenwick will be very good. Aregood will get them very organized and ready. How is Edge looking? think Monroe has a chance week one?

Very low numbers for the Indians. Lost a great class to graduation. They do have some athletes but wow how are they that low in numbers. The story the last few years has been key injuries that's something they can't afford at all.

I think Carlisle and Madison will give MU fits just like thy always do. Low numbers can also be a good thing.
My money is on Carlisle being in the mix come October. Chambers is a good back. There is plenty of talent at Carlisle. Good luck.

Uh, after watching the Lebanon scrimmage, I think everybody has a chance against Edgewood. Cant even snap the ball and run a play.

Franklin 14
Fenwick 0

After 2 ten minute quarters of varsity, left after that, Franklin scored on its first offense play on about a 65 yard pass, and the other touchdown was a 50 yard pass or so. Montgomery maybe got 3 carries and wasn't involved at all.

Offensive line has got to be better, looked sloppy at times. Biggest take is the Franklin defense and defensive line is very good and fast. Fenwick was completely shut down on offense and picked up maybe 3 first downs against the first team D.

Wasn't at the game but was told that Milton beat Arcanum 19-3. Arcanum looked tough from what I was told. MU has some things to work on. Overall not a bad scrimmage.
Dogs open up with Miami East next Friday. Good luck to the SWBL.

Let's face it fella's, we're all pumped about football starting, especially for our hometown teams that we all try and guess how good they actually are gonna be by watching scrimmages that most teams don't really show a whole lot about who they are or how good they'll be! I obviously want my VV Spartans to lay it on every opponent they face the same way y'all want to see your team lay it on! These scrimmages tell us nothing about our teams future success!

Scrimmage is a practice. But these Jamboree games are typically three full quarters. Difference is there is no scounting reports and no practice vs the opponent leading up to the game. Agree with VVboys32.

Grove and Shields are going to be big playmakers for the Dogs.

yes. Grove gives us a lot of speed. Shields is a tough runner. i think it all comes down to if the Dogs defense, especially against the run, improves.

Sounds like CHCA put it on Carlisle last night. I heard 27-0 in the second quarter. That doesn't mean Carlisle is bad it could just mean CHCA is really good.

Covington passed against us and Arcanum ran on us. That's not good. Miami East will be a good running team.
Guess they have a week to sort things out.

CHCA started fast against MU in the playoffs last year. Second half they lost their stamina and MU outplayed them. But overall CHCA is a stout team. Carlisle will be fine once they get the bugs worked out.

Is it safe to say it's time to dig a hole in the backyard and bury Carlisle football season? Or is it too early?

Let's hope not. I want a strong Carlisle team to play MU this season. Waynesville's fall from greatness hurt last year.
I'd love to see the buckeye get stronger. MU and Madison seem to be the favorites, at least right now. Never know come game time.

In my opinion as it is right now, I believe:
Should be in playoffs come 11:
Franklin
Valley View
Milton Union
Brookville
Madison

In the hunt
Carlisle
Bellbrook

Outside shot:
Oakwood (depending on QB play)
Monroe (you really never know)

It's week 1 so everyone has the same chance right now! Good luck to all teams

The Dogs need to get consistent on defense and find a way to stop the pass this year. Oakwood is a mystery every year.

Oakwood put up crazy numbers against valley view and franklin and turned around and lost 28-0 to bellbrook week 10.
Bellbrook is similar, overall more talented and better coached but last year we did some of the same . Lost to eaton the week before valley view , eaton didn't even belong on the same field as us but none the less that's why we play the game, we didn't show up and we got beat, we the. Shutdown the hottest offense in the league in oakwood(at that time) I know they weren't franklin but you can't argue the numbers they were putting up. We were very young last year so I look for a lot more consistincy. We were an 8-2 team last year that slipped up against eaton and fell to 7-3. Sadly I see 7-3 again this year due to the fact that we dropped wayneville and added tipp.
We have to win one of these 3 games to get 8-2
And take care of business the rest of the way like we SHOULD.
Brookville will be a good game again but we're way more then a 1 man band , and the way brookville puts the load on their back reminds me a lot of what oakwood did to Chris hardy, against solid good teams And hard hitting defenses that takes a toll come 4th quarter .
At worse 6-4
At best 8-2 maybe 9-1 if things fall our way(turnovers). And good lord willing all teams stay healthy but injuries and other things do happen through the season.

Qb play will be huge , playbook will be opened up with his experience

Bless em. Ca you give me any insight on tipp? Do you know how much they might be returning and who we should be watching for ? Are they returning their stud back from last year? We open with them.
Swbl banner will be flying high for a lot of our teams week 1 ! Hoping we represent well, especially comeing off the year that our league had, a lot of outsiders are waiting for the swbl to return to the ( slow white boy league ) lol
Good luck to all swbl teams! Stay healthy
