No one ever is permanently up lol. Even Ignatius misses the playoffs on occasion lol. For crying out loud Poland was atrocious in football from basically the time Pavlansky stepped down until Shepas showed up. You're going to have down years but that shouldn't cause you to nuke a league. Or more importantly a rival.

No one ever said they do, but just because they don't want to play Canfield even though they are both D-III doesn't mean it is "justified" or makes sense in the long term.

Simply put this is probably going to burn some bridges and the fact that Canfield never complained when they had down years or had lower enrollment than Poland and now Poland is pulling this is reflecting poorly on Poland. By the way I have a lot of friends that went to Poland and that live in Poland. Granted you can say I am biased but I call things as I see them. When Canfield has a garbage team, I say so, and for the record Canfield was garbage in 2012 for instance, in fact they were God awful, and I will be the first to admit that Poland has had some very gifted athletes and some great teams over the years as well.

I can see the writing on the wall, the Poland-Canfield rivalry is finished if things proceed in this direction. At least Poland will get what it wants, but at the expense of what is arguably one of the longest, best and most closely contested rivalries in the area.

I realize this is not the thread to debate this, but don't be so sure about that. Poland will play Canfield regardless of where this conference goes. To many Athletic dollars at stake not too!

They can still play out of conference. Struthers and Campbell do. That game USED to generate money but the Campbell side home or away is generally empty. So the game is useless now and it saddens me. Canfield and Poland will still generate money.

It probably would but like I said before I would be surprised if they still do play knowing they way Canfield is anymore, I am sure if Canfield played Mooney or Ursuline that would be pretty good money too, but they won't play anytime soon, and Poland may have the same fate as a result of their actions. Granted it would not portray Canfield in the best light but, ultimately Poland will be mainly responsible, like they say don't do something unless you are prepared for the consequences of those actions.
I wonder what the new league will do when half the schools are barely D-5 and schools like Poland and Niles are almost twice as big.

There might be one but in a couple years there will be, probably sooner rather than later with their sharp declines in enrollment. Look for a lot of the area teams to drop a half a division or so if not a whole division, that is a large D-IV will become a small D-IV or a small D-IV will become a large D-V or in the case of the latter a mid size D-III will become a mid size D-IV.

This new league is probably doomed along with what is left of the AAC as well save for maybe the small school tier.

I wouldn't be so sure about Canfield continuing to play Poland after how the Poland contingent has acted in all of this,...

I think you will be okay but right now it looks as though you have 6 schools, so you have to find some more schools to round it out the right way or maybe it will be doomed. Grab Crestview and SR and call it a day.

Lakeview
Struthers
Crestview
South Range
Niles
Girard
Hubbard
Poland

That is a nice D4 dominated league. SR and Crestview are D5 but they play above their weight for the most part and don't have other great options...the key is keeping them together. Niles is D3 but they play below their weight so no worries there. That is a tough and competitive 8 that will produce several 7-3 & 8-2 playoff teams.

Only movement is those with bunches of open enrollment.

Speaking of OE....multipliers for three local public schools...23, 16, 11.

Two of the schools got kicked out of their league because of "recruiting"....the third team's head coach constantly complains about 'Catholic all-star teams' and OE recruiting.

23 - Western Reserve
16 - Crestview
11 - South Range

Stay in your lane bulldog. There's another thread you have already taken over for your Eastern Ohio Junior Varsity league.Deliver was making a point that of the 3 teams, the one who complains about cheating the most is the one with the highest OE count, by far. I am not surprised that his comment went over your head, but entertained nonetheless.

Believe me when I tell you that crestview has never "recruited" anybody. The entire OE discussion spawned from a perfect storm consisting of a very good run of athletes at crestview while the rest of the league was struggling to field a competitive product for different reasons. The rest of the previous league was upset by their lack of success and the easy answer was to get rid of the two schools who were winning the most. crestview and southrange are nothing but class on and off the field and imo would be an asset to any league they joined. As stated by PP they both play above their weight in football and they both travel very well. Boys basketball would be the biggest weakness of crestview but that is being addressed.

I am friends with a certain member of the crestview administration who also happens to be a very good coach of another sport. He mentioned that they recently hired a specific basketball coach in order to help take their program to a more competitive level in the event they get invited into this league. He believes there is a very real chance of being invited to a new league. Fingers crossed!

Still, nothing much happening lately so we really don't know if this is actually going to happen.
Would be nice to hear something, then we could speculate as to who to add to the conference.

SR and CR seems to be obvious candidates. Just wondering if SR would be ready to dump the old NBC so quickly for a chance at this conference.

I think SR/CR can keep up in this type of league.
As mentioned, CR definitely needs some help in basketball. Wouldn't want to be the annual doormat.

I hope this goes through.

You might be right.
I thought the AAC was a good thing for the most part.
But now, that looks to implode.

Ok...So why doesn't Boardman try and join a league. Honestly they played these schools in ALL sports but football prior to leaving the Fed. This just doesn't make sense for Boardman (and Fitch) to remain in this league.

Call up Ursuline and Mooney and get the ball rolling.

That (SVC revival) or an application to the Federal League are the only acceptable options. The short term band-aid patching of the AAC is what is killing it. Do these administrators realize that East plans to essentially split when Chaney gets sports back?

Have a son on a local school board who says they are still talking. Not done yet. Several options still in play.
