2018 Masters

The 2018 PGA season finally kicks into gear with the first major of the year. Here are the odds to win for the top group:

Odds to win 2018 Masters (4/5/18)
Tiger Woods 9/1
Justin Thomas 11/1
Rory McIlroy 11/1
Dustin Johnson 23/2
Jordan Spieth 12/1
Justin Rose 14/1
Bubba Watson 15/1
Phil Mickelson 16/1
Jason Day 20/1
Jon Rahm 20/1
Rickie Fowler 20/1
Paul Casey 25/1
Sergio Garcia 28/1
Hideki Matsuyama 35/1
Alex Noren 40/1
Henrik Stenson 40/1
Patrick Reed 40/1
Tommy Fleetwood 40/1
Matt Kuchar 50/1

So Tiger plays a few decent tournaments and all of s sudden he is the betting favorite? I will say this, if Tiger is sniffing the leader board on Sunday it will draw in huge ratings.

Was there today. What a place. TV does not do the elevation changes justice.

Good for you! I tried finding places to stay last year around Thanksgiving and everything was through the roof or sold out on VRBO/Home-Away/Hotels. One of my bucket list things to do.

One of my favorite things to do all year long is sit in my den on Sunday and watch the finals.

Cool moment as Nicklaus' grandson hits a hole in one at the Par-3 Event yesterday.

I was there on Monday. Agreed about the elevation changes/green undulation. That place is so perfectly well-kept it is almost bizarre. I noticed there are no bugs, no animals at all(squirrels, etc), and I saw a grand total of about 4 birds. I guess it's due to the crazy amount of chemicals they need to use to keep the place perfect.

It was a pretty awesome experience.

Elevation change is a big part of US parkland courses and a design element that can create a lot of risk/reward, which is what this golf course is all about. The risk/reward factor also came into play when Jones was laying out the course too. Originally the 9s were flipped as the longer tougher holes against par were on the current front side, Jones wanted the easier par 5s moved to the back side to create what some call par 4.5s that can be used to set up drama at the end of the tournament. The additional bonus was the most picturesque holes: 12, 13, 16, & 18 were now part of the climatic finish.

Yeah I read about that last year. It kind of disappointed me to hear, but an amazing place regardless

Haven't been this excited for a Masters tournament maybe ever, but certainly not since Tiger was at his peak.

My money is on Rory. A bit absurd that Tiger has better Vegas odds to win than guys like McIlroy, Thomas, Johnson, and Spieth

Agreed all around. I'd love to see Tiger in contention with all those you mentioned on Sunday. A Spieth/Tiger or Rory/Tiger final pairing would be awesome.

It does make you wonder what exactly they do to get it that way, but it just adds to the feel of being in an almost fake/manufactured setting.

I'd like to see his back explode and the whinny face pout he would have would be awesome. Also, seeing ESPN personalities in mourning would be extra awesome!

Oh it definitely has a plastic feeling, but much like Disney, itís difficult for their target market to resist.

It's interesting you mention Disney, I got a very similar feeling being at Augusta as I did at Disney when I've been there. Both in terms of presentation but also in terms of customer service from food vendors/bathroom attendants.

I can't imagine the disappointment ESPN and CBS will have if Woods isn't in the mix come Saturday and Sunday. I realize he's the biggest star in golf, even though he's not been relevant for 5 years, but c'mon folks...at what point does the sport carry more weight that individuals???

The ratings are better when Tiger is in the mix. Blame the fans if you want to cry about something.

Augusta National does have that plantation vibe to it also. It use to be that only their black caddies were allowed to carry a player's bag.

The old coots eventually allowed regular tour caddies but even to this day they still need to sport those ridiculous unis that basically scream servant.

He's played better and been in a few tournaments for 4 days, considering his heyday, he's not relevant at all. Stop drinking the kool aid. Let's see him win a few tournaments, then there is something to consider.

His heyday is irrelevant. He was in contention in his previous 2 tournaments against upper level PGA type guys in Casey, Reed, Garcia, Rose, Stenson and others.
