Maybe 9 games will be ok. I hate how there is only 4 home games.
i also hate how the school board and admin lets the ad be so terrible

Plus none of us are the AD. I don't see it happening but if you read my posts I want it more than anyone. Mooney would play us every year if they could, so this isn't like a once in a life time opportunity. Week 7 is a great time to play them though. But it comes just one week before Hubbard the biggest game of the year for the cats next year. Hubbard will be riding high as they were this season coming into that game.

We have to break the mentality that we can't hang with Mooney. Yeah not every year but we can put up a fight. If the program wasn't afraid to play them then maybe we wouldn't keep losing kids to them. Mooney's program has suffered just like all have with numbers. We are competing against those same kids when they end up at Hubbard. Mooney kicked them out over off field disciplinary reasons not because their atheliticism was not up to par. Bring them on. Challenge our kids and you just might be surprised how they respond.

I don't think it's fear.
At least from the coaching staff. I think it's pure distain.

Mooney lost a lot of kids from last year team . They will still be good just not as good as last year , the same with struthers . I say play the game only for this year since we are in a bind . If we make the playoffs that game will be a good test game because you only play good teams in the playoffs.

Mooney has a good amount coming back. 3 players come to mind.
The QB who got hurt in the Ursuline game, the big fullback (I think), and the fast tailback that they used as a change of pace from Anderson (he carved up NDCL). Just off the top of my head. And I'm sure they have more talent than that coming back. Paige, Hewitt and Gruber. They all started on defense, too.
But I agree. Playing Mooney would be good for the program... win, lose or draw.

Although a rumor. Heard there's a good chance Gruber ends up somewhere else.

Here's what Struthers has coming back/up...
QB: J.D. Hall
FB: Nate Richards, Keith Burnside, Robert Tomko
TB: Willie Mitchell, Keyshawn Chism, Dylan Donnadio, Brendan Serrano
WR: Nick Adams, Kylel Griffin, ?
TE: Connor Calabrette, ?
OL: Jimmy Stefanski, A.J. Iarussi, ?
The backfield might be the deepest that Kuntz has had. Mitchell will be the hammer, and will likely lead the team in carries by a lot. But they'll be far from a one man show. Richards is a 3 year starter,. He's a tough runner and a pretty good receiver. Chism, while undersized, is a capable change of pace and can be very good in the screen game. And The Sophomore class has a few promising running backs.
They'll lose the running ability of Musolino, but Hall is more of a passer anyway. I think the offense this Fall will more resemble Kuntz's offense from 2012 and 2013. Hall is probably something like a left handed hybrid of Gary Muntean and Christian Nemeth.
Other than Adams and Griffin, I have no idea who will play receiver. Neither drew more than a handful of targets, and Adams basically just lined up in the slot and got the ball on Jet Sweeps (he's a converted RB). Need some guys to step up at receiver.
They lose both of their primary tight-ends. Calabrette did play sparingly as a wing, but Kuntz likes to have at least 1 or 2 traditional EMOL tight-ends. The only other TE listed on the roster is Fussnecker. At 5'7"/180 he's a little undersized. Like WR, I think there will be opportunities for guys to step up.
The OL might be hit the hardest by graduation. They do have 2 studs coming back, but they lose a couple 6'4"/300+ pounders and a 3 year starter. And with a southpaw at QB, it may be a good idea to move Stefanski from LT over to RT. I'd also consider moving Iarussi from C to G, depending on what kind of guards they have coming up. I think Lucente will be OK at center, although I don't know how big he'll be. He might be a year away... or maybe he plays guard this year and takes over at center in 2018?
DL: Calabrette, Brandon Kistler, Philip Demarco, Jeff Bloomberg, Ben Santana, Iarussi, Stefanski
ILB: Mitchell, Richards, Burnside, Tomko, Donnadio
S/OLB, Adams, Griffin, ?
CB: Nate Durken, Logan Moore, Tommy Kopnicky, Tyler Johnson
FS: Tyrese Hawkins, Griffin
The front 7 is loaded. It's as deep a front 7 as I can remember at Struthers. Possibly the deepest. The only question mark is at Best's position. I think Griffin is probably the favorite to take over there. He played both FS for Mus and SS for Adams.
Hawkins will be a Sophomore, and I really don't know, but I have a hunch that he can step in for Mus and do a good job. He's built like a safety... and his name has "hawk" in it. lol... or maybe Griffin plays free safety and someone else takes Best's spot.
I didn't go to any JV games last year... but when the JV went in the varsity games, Durken and Hall were the corners. With Hall playing quarterback, I don't know that he will play much defense unless he's absolutely needed over there. They have bodies that can play the position. But I'm not sure what kind of talent they have.
K: Diego Mendel
P: Hall

Trev you're close. Couple linemen missed. Vlosich a sophomore started a couple games late for Coppola. Sekol another kid who started JV. Wouldn't say Lucente is ready yet. Bargainer #58 will be a junior with a lot of quality reps last year.
Secondary I would say it's Adams Durkin Hawkins kopnicky and Durkin
Kopnicky will play WR too. He lit it up in jv last season.
A lot more sophomores will play as that is a loaded class that will make a playoff run of their own.

Why not?
Mooney loses just about everyone except the QB.

Word on the street is that Ursuline called Struthers and was told no
When Campbell called about getting out of the game, they said they already had an opponent to replace them which would have been Mooney
As far as i know Mooney is still looking far and wide for a game for week 7. Obviously closer would be better but if not, oh well.

Isn't niles losing there whole team from last year besides there running back . I heard last season they had 25 senior on the team if that's true niles will be very young and I can't see them winning a lot of games.
