Thanks, sorry to hear that. I knew you would know. How do you rank that team(86,87) to all time Troy teams? That was the best Troy team I've ever seen play.

Jeff Graham was probably the best well-rounded athlete in the Dayton area. Jeff was a stud at Alter HS.

Can't speak for Troyboy73 but I think most people would say the 71 Troy team was the best ever followed by the Brewer years from 96-98. Although in 85 they did play in the state finals. Had there been playoffs in 71, I doubt any team would've been able to beat Troy that year.

Actually I was at Welcome stadium for their playoff game with Moeller in 85 and Moeller won like 24- 14. Although it was close until the last 5 minutes.

I would totally agree with you on Graham being a stud but the question here is football player and if you are talking skill position players Cris Carter would be the best of that era just ahead of Graham. However, Mangold obviously has had a stellar pro career and was a beast in high school too for lineman.

For Valley View a few omissions would be Butch Stidham, Jordan Rieger, Toby DePew, and Delmer Harrison. Personally I would put Stidham in the top 5. I would also have put Strayer over Keating. I would put Focht over Bolen because of yards per carry. If Focht had gotten the carries that Bolen got his numbers would have other worldly. There were just so many weapons on those teams and the scores got so out of hand in-season that his carries were limited. I recall leaders list in the paper for rushing and Focht would be in the top 2-3 with half the carries as the others. My top 7 would be 1. Focht, 2) Bolen, 3) Hannah, 4) Stidham, 5) Strayer, 6) Howard, and 7) Keating.

Please! The reason Aaron got the ridiculous yards he did was because they set it up with great play calling by hammering the middle. Aaron ran through gaping open off tackle plays and sweeping motion pitches and counters. Brock made his living pounding the middle with everybody keying on him. Aaron was a great athlete that produced in a giving system and Brock was a college RB Aaron could not played RB in college at a d1 level. Maybe wr preferably slot. Now please refresh my memories why butch would be up there?? Toby Jordan and delmer was good with delmer being the best but no way do these three brake the list! But I do agree that the young Hannah was rated way way too high. Shane yes but not Shane 2.

Troy 1986 was solid team. started out 0-2 with losses to Toledo Catholic Central and Meadowdale. And then ran off 8 straight wins to finish 8-2. Mike Delwiche played with bad pulled groin the whole year and still rushed for 900 yards in just 6 games. Made playoffs and lost in first round to Toledo Whitmer. 87 team was 6-4 and in good position to make playoffs. Were 6-2 but lost last two games.

I'm curious if they are going to be doing a list for players that played for schools/teams that no longer exist.

I'd be interested in finding out about who played for schools like Patterson, Colonel White, Kiser, Fairview etc. Maybe include them on the list for schools that absorbed them like CW into Thurgood Marshall?

I would assume that if/when they run the list for Kettering Fairmont that they will likely include players who at the time played for East or West.

What other schools in the Miami Valley have been closed/consolidated?

How do you get 7 players from North and South?? Wow, good luck narrowing that list down, Pendelton? Just the South guys alone. Somebody will be left out. But it's his list and he can do what he wants with it??

Was Thomas Stephens from I believe Springfield South a major player back in the late 90s? He was a solid two sport athlete at OU when I was there. Played CB on the football team and a guard on the basketball team.

Dynamite Athlete! If I remember he played like 4 sports in HS too. How uncommon is that these days. Like I said narrowing down the North/South top 7 is going to be rough. To many South guys and the really good North Guys should not get overlooked because of the South guys.

Thanks, couldn't remember the year of the Moeller game. I guess that was a better team than the 86,87 years. Ok another question this maybe a troyboy73question. My father would talk about the Sidney and the 30-0 team. He graduated before the 30-0 team but always told me that they never played Troy or didn't play them for a few years, during the 30-0 run. I guess Troy went into another league or maybe a a bigger side of the MVL for a few years??

Troy was in the WOL...Sidney wasn't. Would've been a great crossover game though in '69.

Right, Troy was in the WOL and Sidney was in the Miami Valley League (Urbana, Bellefontaine, Piqua, Lima Shawnee, Lima Central Catholic). Steve Williams was solid QB for the Yellow Jackets who was a 69 grad. And RB John Wiggins was quick and strong and played at Miami, OH with Williams. WR Mike Flanagan played football and baseball at Indiana. Those were the headliners, but they had much more than those guys.

The Troy/Moeller playoff game was in 1985 and Ken Griffey JR. was a WR/return man for the Crusaders.

Thanks, heard those names many times. I tell people that I saw Ken Griffey JR.
play football in high school and they look at me funny. I remember being at a Moeller Vs. Middletown playoff game where Ken Griffey played I do believe. I think Middletown won that game.

And Kyle Schwarber (Cubs) played football vs. Troy for Middletown a few years ago. Great linebacker.
