Add to that Votto is playing on one leg and Gennett can't hit anything but an inside pitch because his shoulder is hurt. I'm sure what Jim Riggleman is supposed to do?
the fix is moving the walls of GABP back to give the pitchers a chance . I meen , Jose Ramierez hit a pop up off the handle and it went out down the RF line . Its a joke . No good FA pitcher will come to cincy until that happens .#thefogmakinsense

In no way did I mean to compare Homer and deGron in their value as pitchers. I just don't hold much clout in W/L records.

Reds blew it tonight, should of won the game or at worse sent it to extra's.... once again, fundamental breakdowns.

I know I spoke up in Stephenson's defense last week. After his last start he told the media he knew his walks were a problem but he wouldn't change the way he pitched.

Those comments combined with his stellar 1.2 innings he threw tonight gives me no reason to support him anymore. I can deal with bad outings if a guy says they can learn from them and appear coachable. This isn't the case.

14Red is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm not sure I can explain the level of disgust from last night's game.

just a sampling...

-Suarez struck out 5 times last night, 3 called
-This team continues to not score...they get runners on, but they don't score
-Joey can't run after the 5th inning, it's really sad to see.
-Peraza's 9th inning double bounces out of the ball park, Hamilton ties the game easily if the ball stays in the park.
-Hamilton gives himself up at the plate with 2nd/ 3rd, 0 out. Votto hits it anywhere other than the pitcher and first base, the game is tied. But Billy simply cannot run there. Went from 2nd / 3rd 0 out, to 1 out, 1st and 2nd.
-our lack of aggression on the bases. Peraza could have stolen 3rd in the 9th. Brad Hand paid litter attention to him the entire Suarez at bat. If he gets to 3rd, he can score much easier with 1 out.
-Robert Stephenson...how can a guy be a #1 pick and get to the majors an not be able to command a fastball?

Easily the most frustrating loss of 2018. And honestly, there hasn't been as many in the past few years, but this one really stung.

Disco gives up 1 run in 7.2 innings. Phillip Ervin walks it off with a home run in the bottom of the 11th. Disco has really pitched well as of late.

Matt Harvey has now gone 13.1 innings, 12 strikeouts, and two earned runs over his last two starts. Hopefully his final one as a Red. Maybe one more at best.

What do you expect to get in return for Harvey in late August?

Hitting and pitching in the same game. Nice. Good job by Harvey.

As August winds down, my observations for the season thus far:

Best things:
- Desclafani seems like a legitimate SP. Solid.
- Peraza is back to being Peraza that we expected. Solid glove, 4th in the NL in hits, 9th in SB.
- Suarez is legit - glad to have him locked up
- Winker & Schebler, pre-injury, showed they should be reliable big league hitters
- Iglesias & Lorenzen are solid

Worst / puzzling things:
- Roller coaster rides with Castillo / Romano / Mahle. Critical that 2 of them take big step forward next year.
- Healthy Billy with only 29 SB ??
- Votto decent year leading the league in OBP by a mile, but lack of power is puzzling
- unhappy about Duvall's disappearance but he seemingly forgot how to hit

Not a whole lot unless a starter goes down in the next week or so. That and the fact everyone knows the Reds need to move him. Anything at all is better than keeping him for an additional few starts just to have him walk away at the end of the year.
