Difficult to feel optimistic even with the roster overhaul in Cleveland.

It's not 28-0 at half, so we got that going for us, which is nice.

Kizer been a bit hot with his passes but otherwise seems calm. If the Defense can take advantage of this penalty, get a 3 and out.... he may have a chance to get a street named after him.

So, who is sick of Kenny Britt already ? Can they cut that shmuck ? His drops and missed assignments could have extended a few drives.

Not ready to call him the second coming of Dwayne Bowe just yet, but that drop in the middle of the field was unforgivable.

Sadly, that says more about the Browns than about Ben

Did I hear he is the winningest all time QB at the Browns stadium?

A few shreds of optimism here.

Defense was pretty good against the run. Not every team has Antonio Brown either. They really battled.

Kizer has some promise. Held the ball too long several times, leading to sacks, but he can grow from that. Key thing #1: Improve the running game!

I wish Cleveland would have laid some of the illegal hits on Pittsburgh as Pittsburgh put on them.

Kenny Britt has been a dog for some time. Seems like every year was going to be his breakout year. Given the team's youth movement, his signing made no sense, especially when Pryor moved on for essentially the same money.

But Pryor wouldn't fit in with the Browns excellent tradition of getting speedy receivers with hands of stone.

My man Jeff Phelps was singing the praises of another animal entirely today. It appears much work has been going on to be a better citizen.......

Are you ready for Josh Gordon, redux ?

When does the preseason start for 2018? Browns are cooked for 2017. Time to stick a fork in them and move on. Record 0-16

Should have kept Pryor and Barnidge. Not sure what they were doing there.

Barnidge still isn't on an NFL roster, so it's pretty clear what the league thinks of him. Pryor turned down the Browns' offer and signed with Washington.

Bad argument. Barnidge will be playing sometime soon.

Browns likely didn't offer enough money.

How is it a bad argument? It's 3 weeks into the NFL season and Barnidge is at home (I believe 1 team brought him in for a look a few weeks ago and passed on his services). Pryor turned down the Browns offer, so they signed Britt. Pryor eventually signed in Washington for a less valuable contract.

It's a bad argument because this happens to good players all the time and they're eventually brought in during the season after injuries. Plus, it does not address the fact the Browns need his veteran TE abilities for their young QB. Barnidge will be signed soon and the Browns would be better off with him.

As for Pryor, he had all the leverage and the Browns failed to offer him what was necessary to keep him.

The Texans brought him for a look last week, as desperate as the Texans are at TE, they passed on him
So Texas, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Buffalo, Carolina and Denver have all passed on him. There might be something that is not public knowledge because that is a lot of TE needy teams passing on him.

The Texans are the only team that worked him out AFAIK. It was just a few days ago and they signed an OT.

Browns offered him a 4-year deal worth $32 million, with $17 million guaranteed. His agent convinced him he was worth $13-$15 million per year, so they turned it down. He ended up signing with Washington for 1 year and $8 million...but it's actually $3 million in base, $3 million in bonus, and $2 million incentives..so only $6 million guaranteed. NOBODY else offered him a deal. The Browns offer was more than fair and now he has to prove himself. Barnidge put up good numbers with the Browns last season due to being one of the few options on the field. The fact that nobody has signed him speaks volumes. Be pissed at the Browns all that you want, but they made the right decision in both cases.

Again, the Browns didn't do enough to retain Pryor. They had a mountain of cap room, which likely why his agent wanted more. If they thought they could replace him with complete garbage like Kenny Britt, then I'd be worried about their decision-making going forward. Personally, I would have paid Pryor whatever. He was the only legit talent at WR they had, and Coleman didn't show much.

Barnidge put up good numbers but that was because he was of the few options? And that would change this year how? And how does that prove he's not good? I would say a TE putting up good numbers without much help proves he's actually really good, and would be a really good asset to have for a rookie QB.

The Browns absolutely made the wrong decision in both cases. Only someone in complete denial would think otherwise.

So the Browns should just throw $15 million at guy, because they have cap room? Nevermind that he had never been a WR before that season. Nevermind that he only put up those numbers because there were very few options (similar to Barnidge). Nevermind that the ONLY other team to offer him a contract was Washington. You want Cleveland to throw him $15 million? That's the same stupid stuff they did in past years with veterans, and look where it got them. I assume you know that this new regime is analytics driven, and the analytics told them that Pryor was worth 4 years and $32 million, and not a penny more.

So your logic here is that your two best offensive weapons weren't really that good because they were the only options? Good god

Analytics are becoming increasingly suspect. It treats people as numbers and tends to be used as a cover-up for bad moves (it's like the sports version of /r/iamverysmart). Pryor's value to the Browns was certainly more than that. 1000 yards with that QB carousel in his 2nd season at the position was damn impressive.

Exactly. On a team short on playmakers and a ton of cap space there was no reason not to Sign them
