Congratulations to the Panthers for winning their sectional for the second year in a row! Doepker, Collins, Lipps, Weathersby, Murphy, Sanders, and McCloud all won their respective weights, while Klaserner and Moore-Nash finished second. All nine will be traveling to Kettering next week for the district tournament. Props also to Belcher and Feldman, both of whom finished fifth.

Glad to do it.
Belcher had the misfortune of being in the toughest 170 sectional of the four that feed to Kettering, and probably one of the toughest in the state. Beachem, Shirley, Wyche, and Altman all are ranked in the top 12 by yappi posters who spend alot of time researching Ohio high school wrestling, and all four advanced. Belcher lost 3-1 in overtime to Altman and 4-1 to Wyche.
Feldman wrestled three matches at 182 at the Elder Duals (Dec. 2) and also against Oak Hills (Jan. 18); all his other matches were at 195. I’m no expert at judging weight, but from the times I saw Feldman wrestle 195, compared to some of his opponents, I wonder if he ever had to worry about making 195 this season. I bet he wrestled all year as a bit of an undersized 195er.
Jones had a tough sectional, but like Belcher and Feldman, will be back next year as a senior.

Now, as for the district tournament at Kettering Fairmont, LaSalle and Western Brown qualified 11; Butler, Mason, and Springboro ten; Beavercreek and Elder nine; Fairmont, Harrison, Lakota East, Little Miami, and Moeller eight; Fairfield and Princeton seven; and Centerville, Lebanon, Miamisburg, Northmont, and Tecumseh six.
Here are the opening pairings for the nine Panther grapplers:

Championship Round 1
106: William Doepker vs. Kyle Collett (Lakota East)
126: Jack Collins vs. Brighton Black (Oak Hills)
138: Adam Klaserner vs. Alex Epstein (Lakota East)
145: Chucky Lipps vs. Phillip Nared (Xenia)
152: X-xavier Weathersby vs. J.D. Folz (Sycamore)
160: Austin Murphy vs. Kayden Schmidt (Centerville)
182: Charles Sanders vs. Ali Salih (Fairmont)
220: Antonio McCloud vs. Dylan McFaddin (Middletown)
285: Alec Moore-Nash vs. Brogan Reed (Mason)
(No previous H2Hs this round)

The action starts Friday at 4:00 p.m.

Belcher lost to Altman with 3 seconds left in 1st overtime on questionable call , in the end can't let a ref decide a match for you . He lost to Wyche 3-1 in 3rd overtime with 5 seconds left giving up reversal . His choice in final OT , ride or die , wish he could of got to that period . I think he had Wyche almost beat just came up short . Maybe get lucky this week and make it in to Districts as alternate. Feldman has never even been close to 195...he's probably a 170 lb wrestler but with others there he made his way to 195. Hopefully he too can get in as an alternate . Good luck to all the boys this weekend .

Thanks for supplying correct information on the Wyche match. On both the brackets page and results page for Lebanon, Baumspage has Wyche winning a regulation 4-1 decision, that’s what I went by.
It’s good to know that my old eyes weren’t playing tricks on me whenever I watched Feldman wrestle: he looked a lot lighter than all of his 195 opponents because he was a lot lighter than all of them.

Jerry Maguire is an unknown quantity at this point
Doepker should be favorite to finish 3rd, no? Dustin Norris is a stud.

It seems the yappi seers pretty much have Norris beating soph Pacey Najdusak (Mason, state qualifier) in their semifinal, sending him to the bottom half of the conso bracket. They then have Najdusak later beating Doepker to take third. Najdusak and Doepker haven’t met this year; Doepker lost a 1-0 decision to him last year at Fairmont.
Norris, a freshman, was the OAC champ last year at 96 pounds.

Figures. BigM is posting first-place results in the wrestling forum. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.
I've started filling in some blanks.
Of course, baumspage is working for the Hilliard Darby district meet; they're done, and everything is posted.
7:43 Baumspage finally started working!

A review of the records of the Panther state qualifiers shows that, as one would expect, they took care of business when they were expected to. If you look at the wrestlers who won a match against one of these eight Panthers, you won’t find a wrestler who doesn’t have at least pretty good credentials.
As for their predicted finishing places by the yappi seers (I definitely am NOT one of them, I’m talking about bucksman and boro fan, two posters from the wrestling forum who spend a lot of time keeping track of all three divisions), bear in mind that last year, while their predictions were pretty accurate overall, neither of them had Sanders making it out of Fairmont; not only did he make it to the Schott, he placed eighth.
(Reverse order, for a change.)
285: Alec Moore-Nash, senior, 32-6
Yappi seers: fourth place, fourth place
Moore-Nash’s losses came at the Ironman to PJ Mustipher (Mcdonogh School, Owings Mills, MD, ’18 and ’17 MIAA 285 state champ, Penn State (football), dec 6-1) and Curtis Ruff (Lake Highland Prep, Orlando FL, ’18 1A second at 285, ’17 1A third at 285, dec 4-3 UTB); at the SWOWCA finals to Brian Stears (Williamsburg, Troy District champ, ’17 D-III fourth at 285, dec 6-3); at the Brecksville finals to Hunter Bodkin (Martins Ferry, Heath District champ, ’16 D-III eighth at 220, dec 3-1); and twice to Jack Heyob (St. Xavier), at the finals of both the Lebanon Sectional (pin) and the Kettering Fairmont District (dec 5-4 SV).
Heyob (41-1) and Jacob Cover (Hilliard Darby, 45-5, Hilliard Darby District champ) are in the top half of the bracket, while Matt Lee (Amherst Steele, 44-1, Perrysburg District champ, ’17 fifth at 285) and Jordan Earnest (Wadsworth, 44-1, Hoover District champ, ’17 fourth at 285) are in the bottom half with Moore-Nash.
220: Antonio McCloud, senior, 40-4
Yappi seers: first place, first place
McCloud has only one loss to an Ohio wrestler. His losses were to Owen Trephan (Blair Academy, #13 InterMat) twice at the Ironman (decs 3-0 and 1-0); at the SWOWCA finals to Joe Cochran (Springfield, ’18 state qualifier, ’17 fourth at 195, dec 8-2); and at the Brecksville finals to Brandon Whitman (Dundee HS, Dundee MI, #3 InterMat, ’18 Div 3 215 champ, ’17 Div 3 189 champ, ’16 Div 3 189 champ, ’15 Div 3 171 champ, North Carolina, dec 7-2).
Parker Meaney (Ashtabula Lakeside, 32-4, Hoover District champ), Garrett Bledsoe (LaSalle, 31-10), and Derrick Bowman (Lancaster, 39-6, Hilliard Darby District champ) are in the top half of the bracket, while Cochran and Josh Bever (Ashland, 41-5, Perrysburg District champ) are in the bottom half with McCloud.
182: Charles Sanders, senior, 38-8
Yappi seers: not placing, not placing
This year Sanders wrestled 170, 182, and 195. At the Ironman he wrestled 182 and lost to A.J. Ferrari (Allen HS, Allen, TX, #3 InterMat at 195, ’18 6A 195 champ, maj dec 15-4) and Trevor Swier (Montini Catholic, Lombard, IL, ’18 state qualifier at 182, pin); at SWOWCA to Simon Shirley (Harrison, ’18 state qualifier at 170, pin); at Brecksville to David Crawford (Canfield, Alliance District 182 champ, ’17 D-II 170 champ, ’16 D-II fourth at 160, ’15 D-II sixth at 152, pin), Sam Stoll (Edison, Defiance District 182 champ, ’17 D-III seventh at 195, ’16 D-III fourth at 170, dec 5-4), and Trevor Begin (Midview, Perrysburg District champ, dec 6-5); at the Rieman to Lennox Wolak (Dublin Coffman, ’18 state qualifier, pin); and at the Kettering Fairmont District to Sebastian Beachler (Miamisburg, ’18 state qualifier, pin).
Victor Marcelli (Massillon Jackson, 53-1, #11 InterMat, Hoover District champ, ’17 sixth at 182, ’16 third at 170, Cleveland State), Begin (43-3), Beachler (38-4), and Wolak (35-5) are in Sanders’ half of the bracket; Wolak is Sanders’ opening round opponent.
160: Austin Murphy, senior, 36-2
Yappi seers: second place, second place
Elder’s all-time leader in victories, Murphy’s two losses came at the Ironman back in December. The first was to Hudson Hightower (Lakewood St. Edward, second at the Perrysburg District, dq) and the second was to Kevon Freeman (Lake Catholic, #19 nationally by InterMat, Alliance District champ, ’17 D-II 145 champ, ’16 D-II 132 champ, ’15 D-II sixth at 120, dec 2-1).
Murphy pinned Jaden Mattox (Grove City Central Crossing, #1 by InterMat at the time) in the finals at the Rieman.
Mattox (41-4, #5 InterMat, Hilliard Darby District champ, ’17 second at 152, ’16 132 champ, ’15 second at 113, Ohio State), Michael Ferree (Austintown Fitch, 48-3), Nevan Snodgrass (Fairmont, 26-4), Najee Lockett (Clev. St. Ignatius, 28-7, Perrysburg District champ), and Trey Sizemore (LaSalle, 41-8) are in the top half of the bracket, while Cole Foor (Pataskala Watkins Memorial, 29-2), Luke Reicosky (North Canton Hoover, 46-6, Hoover District champ) and Hightower (26-12) and are in the bottom half with Murphy.
