school size

(Quote from Bobcat QB)As of today, Cambridge would be the 6th largest school of 10 in MVL and would probably be 7th/8th this time next year. If that happens, I'd rather be in the B8 and playing St.C, UL, MF, and Bellaire than a "small" school division in MVL with New Lex, Morgan, West M and Crooksville..yuck.

Morgan Local Morgan

Cambridge City Guernsey

Doesn't look like Cambridge is smaller than those schools in the future.

Am I reading that correctly,Cambridge will drop to 152 then 103 and then 87? I really thought the Cambridge population would explode with the oil and gas, being at the intersection of I70 and 77 should make it a hub.

Actually, it is the reverse. 87 is the enrollment in the 12th grade. So, the lower grades in Cambridge actually have the higher enrollment. Bear in mind, though, these aren't predictive measures. These were *actual* enrollment numbers reported October 2016. So, if the energy boom draws families to the area, those numbers would go up across the board.

Ok that makes sense, but the 10th 11th and especially the 12th grades stick out like sore thumbs, the city of Cambridge is about the same size as Dover, what happened 16-18 years ago that no one hardly had sex in Cambridge.

Cambridge city is only a little over 10,600 and shrinking, Dover almost 13,000 and growing. Most oil/gas growth is still east of us but suppossedly will be this way more over next several years.

Hope those figures hold Teach but this year was a record for lost due to open enrollment and until oil/gas comes back I don't see it changing. BG, if those numbers were predictive then I would assume they took into consideration the previous energy growth a few years ago..while we did gain a few because of it, we lost many more b/c of OE and many kids leaving again because energy dried up and they went back south.

As I said, the numbers are NOT predictive. You could have 150-180 kids in grade 2, but by grade 10, it might be 100-120, if the economy in the area is such that young families leave for 'greener pastures', whether that is a district with OE or moving to Central Ohio to Dublin, Hilliard, etc.
