And if the next divisional breakdown (for 2019-2020 & 2020-2021) is based on the enrollment of boys in grades 9, 10 and 11, as of the end of Oct. 2018, Dover will stay in Div. II. The freshmen and sophomore classes (in Oct. 2018) will be larger than usual at Dover.

I expect Boardman to be in the top 10 discussion this year. They have a good amount back including QB Mike OHoro. They also get back their top offensive player, Joe Ieraci, who went down for the season in week 4. The offense never hit its stride again w/o him, after coming out hot scoring 40 ppg the first 3 weeks and 21 in 1H vs Big Red w/ him in before getting hurt right before HT.

They had the lead going late into the game at Massillon in Rd 1 and had they held on likely wouldíve been in state semis like Massillon and probably been more on the top 10 radar.

That is very possible. I believe Avon and TCC will square off in the R6 final, but if it's Avon, they might get Hoban in the semi, while if it's TCC they probably get them in the finals. As an Avon fan, I would rather get Hoban in the finals, but geography probably means semis.

I would think ohsaa would match up Hoban vs Massillon in the Semi and TCC vs Winton Woods/LaSalle in the other Semi finals

If those were the semis, they would do that for sure.

Last year, I was hoping Avon could avoid Hoban until the finals, but they chose to do Avon vs Hoban in the semis instead of Massillon vs Hoban. WW couldn't defend the pass. I would have liked to see Avon play them, but in the end Hoban would still have stood in the way of a state title. Just one week later.

The focus should be on the Shoremen, Bulldogs and maybe even the Comets before talk of TCC or Hoban occurs.

The Middies, as well, and even the Titans could be dangerous, but I think it would be surprising if Avon did not go 10-0. All the teams you mentioned will be playoff contenders, though, including the Comets.

I would say that Troy is definitely a top 10 team in D2. And Iím not so sure about Anderson. They still have a good amount of talent but I donít think they will be even close to the team they were last year with what they lost and Iím not for sure if theyíre top 10 material.

TCC needs to fix their QB problem if they want to make it all the way to week 15. They would have won states in D3 last year if they had a capable QB with the monstrous defense they had. The Irish return a ton of talent...but the QB position keeps me skeptical.

Durden has all the tools. To watch the kid warm up you'd think very highly of him at 6'2/6'3 205lbs. And his throwing motion is pretty but once the game starts he gets tentative, almost as if he is overthinking it.

I've been told (you know how that goes) that CCHS will be tweaking their offense this season to a more run oriented scheme. If that is the case it will serve Durden much better. Take most of the thought away from him. Bootlegs and Flood routes where it is simple check down and he sees the open man immediately rather than sitting in a pocket waiting for routes to develop downfield. Then of course you let teams load the box and toss the occasional fade to Bowen...or Copeland...or Griffin...lol. Lots of talent on this team. Run, run, run, pass. 8-10 times a game but efficient is all the Irish need.

Turns out after all these years Cromwell is still right.

What does Lasalle have coming back that makes people think they are a top 10 team?

I know nothing about their roster, but found this preview last week.

Thanks. Nice find. I don't think they have the firepower of the Larkin era Lancers, but they will still be formidable for anyone in D2. Still one of the favorites. Especially if the new QB acclimates to the LaSalle offense with no difficulties.

What made Lasalle special were the explosive playmakers.

What makes WW any good this year? Booker and Williams? Takes more than that. Mayberry, Oats, Beachum, Chapman, Smith and all those other seniors are gone. You and your hard on for LaSalle is funny. To bad WW dropped LaSalle or you could see what they have coming back.

Winton Woods will be scary on offense this year, defense will be standard Winton Woods. I hate we drop the series with Lasalle, hopefully it will resume in two years.

Uh Winton Woods has a D1 running back and some very good D-linemen. I guess we will see.

WW will have some legit studs on the team still. People are writing them off and they have some skill players that can carry a team by themselves. One of the most impressive backs I have seen in a while and I think he was a sophomore?

Yes, the RB will be a junior and is being recruited by major colleges. (Myan Williams)
WW will stilll be very good as they reload. Alot of young players got a chance to play last season. The key to WW season will be QB play! With Mayberry gone it will be a challenge replacing him.

They have a very good D-lineman too that was only a Jr. if I am not mistaken. I don’t know much past watching them against Hoban last year but they had a lot of impressive kids on the field.

That Anderson QB was essentially their team. He was great. They will take a step back this year. Troy returns a lot and has a really good senior class. Their running back will be one of the best in Ohio this year and they will have a good defense. The main question will be if they can get solid QB play, something that they didnít have last year. I think Troy has a 9-1 record or 8-2 at worst next year.
