What would you do

Got a shipment from LL Bean, bought some new boots. In a separate box contained waders that can fit my wife, a little big on her but she can use them.

The length is definitely big on her but the straps helped. The size of the shoe was 9 so I was thinking it might be for his kid.

What is weird is my name and address are on the shipping label, same tracking number as my boots package.

Fwiw I called LL Bean customer service Friday and said they already shipped another pair to the customer who ordered it. They asked if I would send it back to them. So I am keeping it. Not spending any extra money on a mistake they made, honestly I wouldnt spend any money shipping it to the customer either. Had the purchaser not had a pair sent to him I would have told him to send me a package with a shipping label already paid and I would drop it off at UPS.

LL Bean changed their return policy so there is no chance in He11 I am sending it back to them. So my wife has a new pair of waders, customer is getting his, and LL Bean gets the shaft bc of their change in return policy. Life is good

I called to see if they sent a replacement pair to the original purchaser, not to see if they were coming after me.....

at you thinking I am worried about LL Bean coming after me.

This is what I would have done. Not gonna pay money for a mistake the company made, if they want it back they can send me a prepaid shipping label/box.

Any item my wife and I have ever purchased on line comes to us with a prepaid return label in case we want to send it back. Maybe LL Bean should talk with some other mail order dealers.

Call LL Bean. Most likely they will tell you to keep the waders and they'll send out another pair to the original purchaser. You can't be expected to cover the cost of sending them on or returning them; most companies don't want to pay postage for you to return.

This was my scenario when I had a similar situation.

Keep them, do nothing else. They'll sort it out with the original purchaser.

Forward them on. Especially if they have a shipping label and there is no cost to you.

Then let LL Bean know what you did and they might send a little something your way.

might want to monitor any cards you have tied to LL Bean......I had something similar happen to me on Amazon, and then shortly after that (~2 weeks) someone had tried to charge airplane tickets for $3200 to my card in Osaka, Japan....luckily the bank noticed this and sent me a notification....I had to formally dispute the charge (fill out form online) and cancel the card and re-open new account.

Why would they put a paid shipping label with the purchasers address in the box?

There is a shipping label but it is for returns

If you found a wallet on the street that contained the owner's ID and say $80 what would you do? Finders keepers? Personally, I would mail it back to the owner, but keeping $10 for my time and expense in doing so, and explaining that to the owner.

Found a wallet downtown and looked up the info and called the owner. They picked it up the next day.
