First famous wrong way...

1929

~ ~ ~

1938... Douglas Corrigan

An aviator was supposed to make a transcontinental flight from Long Beach,CA to New York City,
and return to return to Long Beach.

Upon his return flight; he flew from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York, to Ireland,
though his flight plan was filed to return to Long Beach.

He claimed his unauthorized flight was due to a navigational error, caused by heavy cloud
cover that obscured landmarks and low-light conditions, causing him to misread his compass.

Thus he became known as Wrong Way Corrigan.

I was trying to look up the specifics but maybe a Bengal fan can help

Bengals leading late 4th quarter when Sam Wycje goes for it on 4th down. The pass is incomplete and 49ers Win on the next play. A simple punt and the game is 99.9% over

Failure of OSU to punt ball out of bounds in regulation national championship game vs Miami. In the end OSU still wins but punting to open field with just a few seconds left in game was pretty stupid. 2002 I think.

It may not rate as a blunder, but when the baseball bounced off of Canseco's head for a home run.

Didn't think I would survive that game - thought I'd have a heart attack before it was all over, lol.

You are talking about the team that hired Dave Shula, Homer Rice, Tiger Johnson among others to be head coaches.

It wasn’t a pass, it was a sweep that lost like eight yards and because it was fourth down the clock stopped with like one second left.

Don't forget Lewis Billups' interception drop and poor Stanley Wilson getting coked up one day too early.

A.H. Modell (guesswhat the AH stands for)
1: firing Paul Brown (and he did it during a newspaper strike)
2: moving the Browns out of Cleveland

In fact, I'd argue it was the opposite of a blunder. That team won a Super Bowl not long after the move.

Most locals here don't realize how much calculation and how many machinations contributed to that move.

Art's pair of blunders was saying no in '90 to a shared 72k seat dome where the Jake and the Q now sit, and then borrowing at an exhorbitant rate to remodel Municipal Stadium. The City's blunder was deciding to put a new stadium on the same site as the old one. That obviously takes a few years.

I was at that game. Most people left early to go to Octoberfest but I stayed because with Wyche as a coach you never knew what would happen.

When the game was over and word spread through the crowd at Octoberfest it turned ugly.

Thx. Zeeman. The above video jarred my memory. Going for it on 4th was ed but even a pass would be better than a run. Throw a deep one and the clock is triple zero when the ball is in the air ( unless of course a pick 6)
Better yet- let the punter Sprint to the end zone amd take the safety

Sorry, but the Bengals never fired Bill Walsh. He left the team after Paul Brown stepped down as head coach and selected Tiger Johnson (instead of Walsh) to succeed him.
Walsh accepted the OC position with San Diego instead of remaining with the Bengals. Good move on his part.

How about just have your Punt team punt the damn ball that's what they're paid for!!!

A Bengals fan has many scars.

The bonehead play was Jeremy Hill's fumble. All he needed to do was hold on to the ball. Bengals didn't need a first down or any additional yardage. But dumb azz runs through traffic swinging the ball with one arm.

Bengals should have cut him the next day. He was worthless that season and since then.
