24 Game Schedule regular season?

Since the OHSAA has adopted the NFHS rules and regulationsit is currently recommending a 24 game schedule

Trying to play 24 games in 13 weeks would be difficult.

Stupid. If the football season starts a couple weeks earlier and basketball starts a week earlier, then maybe. 22 games is already a bunch.

There are high school kids not college. It hard to do 22 now. With cancellations /makeups and less practice time for 22 games, this idea is rediculus.

Remember we have Christmas and New Years weekends during that 13 weeks. Football state finals are the first week so some schools change their schedules every season.

Many teams play 4 games during the X-mas break at tournaments....

also, you don't have to play 24 if you do not want to.... it would not be mandatory..... so just schedule 22,21, or 20....

But many teams do not play games on Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Years day or New Years Eve. So depending on when those days fall you cal loose 2 weekends of play. This year with games beginning 11/30/17 and tournaments starting as early as 2/19/18, you had 12 weekends to get 22 games. Mix in the football teams that went deep into football playoffs and you have many schools with maybe 10 or 11 weeks. Try getting 24 games in that time and be ready, rested and healthy for tournament.

And there's so many bad teams out there. Who wants to watch more bad basketball and they're teams lose 2 more games.

They don't have to schedule the extra games so that would leave good teams playing other good teams.... win/win!!!!

Try telling a parent you are going to cut their kid out of games that could be played.

If they go to 24. They'll all play 24. Exception might be the first year due to scheduling problems.

Which would be one vote not to increase to 24.

22 is enough. How much does it cost to play a game? I know some schools that barely have more than parents at these games. Paying security, scorekeepers and officials for JV and Varsity games is already a money loser at some schools.

Basketball and football are money makers at almost every school

As pointed out above, there are already schools that do not schedule the 22 games that was allowed 6 years ago. Going to 24 would one more step to an AAU season.

I highly doubt that. I've been to some smaller schools that don't even average 200 fans a game. They probably don't cover their coaches salary let alone all the other costs.

Ticket sales from games donít pay coaches salaries.

Does that really matter? When you look at whether a sport makes money for a school or not, you need to look at all costs involved with that sport. To say that a sport makes money and account for the coaches salary somewhere else really doesn't make sense.

Basketball and football games are money makers for 95% of schools... if not more.

Really ? Only most schools with good boosters club make money. High school sports are in trouble at many schools. Pay to participate deadens the pain at most schools. Little money made at most schools. It's bad ! Attendance is bad at most schools. Reality !

And booster club money doesn't go to the athletic department or school. Booster clubs are their own separate entity.

There are two types of Booster clubs and one does go directly to the Athletic Department

I don't think so... I believe that is against the law.

In Kentucky teams play 32-38 games per season. It would not be hard to do at all. Like was said earlier, play every Tuesday and Friday and mix in a few Saturdays.
