Do we just mark that down as a price to pay for the freedoms we enjoy? Or should we look into that aspect a bit more?
I'd argue that the existence of programs that allow others to be a burden on us is at least as much our fault as theirs.

Clarifying something in this previous post.

Would like to point out it this is because of parimuuel betting so the legislation may not apply to regular sports betting since it isnt parimutuel.

I know it doesn't but I know what the outcome will be if there are no bans on things. What if we allowed people to drive any speed they were comfortable with on the roads?

I just think this is a bad idea.

That's a terrible analogy. Try again. Use a better, more appropriate analogy.

Too many folks look at the now and not at the future, sports gambling in the US will be a different animal 10 years from now and this thing will be a god send to those in the legal sports business. While the outcome of the game will still be the lynch pin condition to place a bet on, the real action for those that think they can beat the house will be on rapid fire individual outcomes. The best example given to me is craps. Most play the pass/don't pass line but that sometimes takes a while to resolve and there are all these individual throws that can lead to various bets, (hard ways, placed numbers, field, etc...) why not do the same with pro/NCAA games? MLB could make a fortune off of this type of betting as each AB can be a bet with different odds based on the individual pitcher vs batter battle. How many times are you sitting there at a sports bar and say I bet player X will hit a HR in this situation? Well now you get a chance to put your $ where your mouth is. Football could also be a great sport for this type of betting, odds on every 1st and 10 or things like when in a red zone odds on the various outcomes. NBA and NHL is a little more difficult but they could also have fluid odds on various outcomes. This would all be done on those little boxes people use during the trivia games that tie different bars together for trivia nights. Set up an account, load in some cash, and have a night at it with your stats spread out before you and the games showing on all these big screens.

This is an article about arguably the best gambler in the world.

Auggie and to anyone else

This is a great article outlining the way gambling takes place on the big stage. Syndicates with computers and algorithms. Sports gambling, in the future you described auggie, will be dominated by these syndicates using tools just like this but into plate appearances and tons of other plays like that

This dude is my hero. Long article but well worth the read. I highly reccomend it

14Red, I have to ask. Are you a Republican or Democrat? Because you sound an awfully lot like a Democrat. You want to baby the people of America, you don't want to let them make choices for themselves. Instead you will come up with programs, services, laws, etc. to coddle them.

Should we limit the options of the 99% because the 1% has a problem with a product or activity?

This is not currently available but it will be coming down the line.

Speaking of alcohol someone told me in most countries the legal sports book is located in the local pub. Talk about priming the pump... And screw the casinos and race tracks, stick these things in the local Buffalo Wild Wing and watch the line form just before 1:00 on a fall Sunday>

Surprisingly to you, I'm republican, conservative. Voted for Trump.

I don't know that guiding people out of oncoming traffic makes me want to baby the people of America. We have enough problems with additions, substance abuse, divorce and bankruptcies...and I completely get it, people bankrupt themselves even with this was illegal, but I just want to try to protect people from themselves in some ways, is that so wrong?

To try to convince someone not to do themselves harm, not wrong.
To use force (including government), yes wrong.

In case anyone was wondering the conservative Justices plus liberal Elena Kagan were for this ruling. Stephen Breyer agreed with most of it. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, joined by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, dissented.

I’m not much of a gambler, but I’ll probably bet College Football bc that’s the one sport I feel like I’ve got a solid handle every year.

He had nothing to do with this. It was the State of NJ who brought forth a suit up to the SC.

So you're actually a democrat? Because that's the democrat social issues mindset.

I was going to say, I never bet bc I didnít want to associate with shady people. Now, youíll probably be able to place live bets on your phone. The industry is going to explode very quickly.
