I highly doubt there is a concentrated effort by the school system to hold all boys back a year in Kindergarten.

As far as the driver's ed thing...my oldest son and probably 50% of his classmates were all licensed drivers before their sophomore year started. And we live a good 90 miles away from Coldwater.
So you're saying that the administrator at CW thought so lowly of the parents ability to take professional advice about their child's readiness to start school that He/She thought it best to use athletics to convince them to hold their child back?
That's even worse.

Again, it is not illegal to start a child's education a year later so that they will be more mature (in every aspect) thru out their school career.

It is disturbing IMO when an administration openly suggest it for athletic reasons.

by the way.....go get a trophy tomorrow..

Minster Girls have a good shot at bringing one home in Track...last three years they have been runner-up....
Congrats on the title in Minster.

Just couldn't get it done Saturday. I believe in a series we come out victorious but it just wasn't meant to be. Was a good, clean game with no errors on either side but baseball can be very cruel sometimes and just didn't get things bouncing their way.
BB is a game of inches. They get one down the line by an inch, ours is foul by an inch. We got some duck farts to fall in...but with no one on and when we hit some shots they made some FANTASTIC plays to end innings.

Now onto summer baseball and football and because I know he reads this.......
The.
Beat.
Goes.
On.

Simply saying it could be part of the explanation to the parents. It happens in real life whether you think it's disturbing or not. And not just in CW. If a parent isn't buying the child isn't ready academically, socially, or maturity they will play another card that plays on the fact little Johnny will be one of the youngest or smallest in his class and it could hurt him in sports if that is of interest to him down the road.

Again the teachers aren't stupid. If they think starting a year later is better for the child - and the teachers too - they will use every angle possible to get that child to start a year later at their disposal.

I wonder if he'll sign or elect to still take his scholarship. Isn't he a Kent State Commit?

He is a Kent State commit. I'm sure it depends on the offer.

Show him the money!

There's no guarantee that he'll get drafted again and playing for Kent State isn't likely to increase his draft stock. There really isn't a down side to signing now and even less upside to turning the Padres down.

Marion Local is a slight favorite to win the MAC however will need to rebuild the o-line and will have just one returning starter on the front 7 on defense. Could see a three way tie for 1st between CW, ML, and FR.

I'm not sold on FR just yet. They were 1 dimensional last year and they are losing 3 year starters on both sides of the ball. This season will certainly test the program.

Our offensive line and defensive line will dictate what kind of team we have. The offensive line struggled last year and we replace everyone on the defensive line. Unless they see improvement, we might not come close to a league title. Not to mention Coldwater fans have no definitive answer as to who is playing quarterback.

they did lose a few boys, did Stocker go on to play some College ball? aren't they losing about 7 starters on both sides of the ball?

He won it. Then 2nd place, Alex May, played wide receiver for us. I think Sam Broering might have been better suited for wide receiver but there wasn't any other varsity ready Quarterbacks on the roster. I think he did the best that he could and it didn't help that our offensive line wasn't that talented either.

It was amazing how Coldwater produced a top notch QB year after year. Due for a ( dry period ) at that position sooner or later.

After being named 1st team All-MAC defensive back at EMU last season any chance Brody Hoying turns pro after this year of college football.
