I have absolutely no idea what you are speaking of. Seeing as Davis is a long time major league pitcher, I"m sure he's familiar with the seams on major league baseballs. He simply horribly executed a pitch at a critical time in the game.

In 2 posts back to back, 14Red has completely contradicted himself.
Post 2731:
14Red says he intentionally bounced the pitch 2 feet in front of the plate.

Post 2732:
14Red says he "horribly executed" the pitch.

These two statements can't both be true.
However, I will predict that, as always, he will deny saying what he has been saying when he first brought this topic up. He is one of those sad people who can never admit when they're wrong.

I'm saying your knowledge of executing a pitch at the high school or college level, which I don't think anyone buys, is irrelevant. I have no question that Davis knows how to execute a pitch. I'm saying you don't have a credible opinion on pitch execution and how easy it is because you've never done it.

14Red, being that you're our board expert, who do you fault for the pitch? Davis for location, catcher for calling it, Bud Black for being the manager, perhaps Pitching Coach Steve Foster who's regarded as one of the best in the business is it the scouting department who knew Schebler had troubles with curveballs? He struck out the next pitch and the game went to extras.

I'll get to your first comment in a moment...

Since Davis is the pitcher who threw the ball, and he blew the save and his team eventually lost, I fault Davis.

Now, I'm no more of an expert than any of you other yahoos on here. This is a message board, full of ideas and opinions on various topics. As I watched that play last week, I just marveled that a major league pitcher - and a good one - would make such a poor selection of the pitch, followed by even poorer execution.

I'm glad you feel I'm the expert of the board, I do feel most of my points are pretty good and make alot of sense. I have the feeling that about 80% of the people on here are more interested in just stirring up arguments than having any factual opinion or any serious discussion. You can tell this because these people have no original posts, or no ideas or discussion. They just create an argumentative environment, no matter the topic.

Back to the games on the field.

Sal Romano gives us the best individual starting pitching performance of the season, going 8 innings, giving up only 4 hits and a solo home run. However, due to lack of offense, Romano gets a no decision, but he was bailed out by Tucker Barnhart's 9th inning solo shot to tie the game.

And if you haven't seen it yet, try to go back and find Billy Hamilton, getting our of a rundown in the all important top of the 10th inning. Truly amazing how he can avoid tags, as he's done this before.

About which point

1) You don't know what you're talking about

2) Your high school and college experience means nothing.

3) The seams are flatter on major league baseballs.

4) Breaking pitches are harder to control on baseballs with flatter seams, because physics.

Nice to see Big Sal finally have a nice game. When he has command, he is tough. Unfortunately he has command about 2-3 times per year.

For the baseball experts on here. Just trying to figure out how long the Reds rebuild will take. Trying to figure out if I'll still be alive or if my grandkids can enjoy the future Reds.

So, you guys have ownership focused on fighting Bobblehead taxation, huh ? https://www.usnews.com/news/business...ns-tax-dispute

Seems really important when you're 16.5 out in the second week of June.

Thanks for wasting state $.

I bet you poor bastards long for the Marge Schott days.....

They're fighting the state over a few thousand possible tax dollars and some of you think they'll actually spend in FA?

On the Billy play, it showed just how athletic he is. He may have been out of the base paths but not by much. It even looked like they may have got the tag on a few of the angles (ump would've been blocked by Billy's body) but wasn't reviewed.

In terms of him not running....Riggleman said on the radio the other day that Billy always had the green light and he has no answers to why he hasn't attempted to steal more often.

That did make me laugh. Sadly enough probably true and Billy Hamilton will be hitting 110 and learning to bunt.

By far the two best pitched games the Reds have had all year. Sure it was against the Royals but 2/3 of the Reds Future pitchers dealing. The Jared Hughes deal continues to be a steal .99 ERA in around 36 innings and the Reds own his rights for next year for the low price of $3M. He may actually hold decent value on the trading block in the next month.

It seems the Reds have no interest in bringing Senzel up unless he can play every day. The only way that happens is if they trade Scooter or there's an injury. I agree with this decision. For whatever reason the club doesn't see him as a SS and have all but aborted that plan since Spring Training. As John Fay has reported, he's not getting any reps in the outfield and neither is Scooter. Sounds like Scooter's injured shoulder is still lingering and that may explain some of the issues he's had in the field lately. If the Reds don't think rest/rehab can fix anything then they can't afford to take him out of the lineup. Even if it does hurt them in the field a bit.

Serious question, is there a reason that Billy continues to try and switch hit? Maybe simply focus on one side of the plate and just try to put the ball in play.

I didn't watch the game, but anyone know why Mahle didn't go longer than 6.1 IP? He was only at 88 pitches.

Brantley has talked quite a bit about his struggles the 2nd and especially 3rd times through the lineup. I am wondering if Riggleman is becoming very sensitive to that and limiting him.

At the time it was only 3-0 and gave up a hit. Brought Garrett it to face the left hander.

For some of Mahle's starts this year, when he loses it, he loses it FAST. Riggleman may have liked Garrett's matchup and didn't want to let the inning escalate.

Also, the Reds were off Monday, Romano gave us a long start Tuesday, so the bullpen, for once, was pretty rested. Another off day today so the bullpen has been used very little this week.

In the event that he won and you were committed to fulfilling your bet, you'd probably have to be the first guy that roofied his own wife just to pass her off.
