I think the Friday 7PM will be a non-issue. Probably preferred by vast majority of fans and parents

No idea. Best guess would be to help out the print media members whose deadlines seem to get earlier every year.

Many news programs start at 10 instead of 11, so getting highlights will be easier.

That's true as well.

I just know from past experience doing stats for my school's teams that the local newspaper seems to want the info earlier each year as they have less staff available to compile all of it after they get it.

The Dayton Daily News doesn't even try to get football scores in the paper any more. Last year, Friday night high school football was reported in the Sunday paper. Saturday's paper only had the few Thursday night games.

One would think that printing high school scores would be an essential part of sport coverage. However, with the influx of editors , sports directors, etc. from outside the state, this does not seem important. Seriously, who needs five articles in the same edition on the local pro team, or, as in Cleveland, countless articles on Ohio State football? They might say," Look online." However, in many cases, the scores never get there either. In Cleveland, one has to look at the Akron Beacon-Journal ( a far superior paper) to get local scores, since the PD will have eleven articles on the Browns.

Why do you think a ‘vast majority’ favor an earlier start?

In the case of the PD (i.e. NEOMG/Cleveland.com), they made significant cuts to sports desk. As a result they went to an online submission system that is byzantine and not user friendly for submitting schools (you used to be able to call/e-mail them in, now you can't). Many schools just have chosen not to submit scores.

In the case of other newspapers, their print deadlines have moved up to where the scores just can't get in. I don't know exact deadlines, but in many cases you're talking about 10:00 if not earlier.
