Football season starts NOW

I have talked to many parents of players in the area, and for the most part there kids have already started some sort of weight training, speed and conditioning, or stretching in hopes of becoming a better player for the 2010 season. What are our beloved Bulldogs doing? Until we get stronger and more athletic we will continue to have more of the same. I stayed quiet all year while we took beatings week after week. To continue this way is simply not acceptable. I love our Dawgs; but we need to change our approach. I believe Coach Tink is a good guy; but if he is not part of the solution then he is part of the problem.

How long has Coach Tink been here? Is he on the hotseat?

Amen to that, Truth.

I think Coach Tinkler's been here about 4 years. I hear he's a good coach but something's been missing. I hope Stow can get it turned around, because the school district deserves a winner in the manner of its storied past.

I've heard nothing about Tink leaving. I think it should also be pointed out that there is a hiring freeze I believe in Stow. That could have something to do with it? Or maybe they are fine with Tink?

Who would his replacement even be? They would have to look out of house I would think and with no hiring I don't see it happening.

Oh no clue whom the replacement may be or even wanting Tink gone. I was just trying to gauge the fan base due to the fact that he has won in his four years just not convincingly. Good Luck Bulldogs!

Start mentioning names of replacements and you get a lot of speculation about brothers of the AD, etc all of which IMO is nonsense.

The program needs cohesion, top to bottom, ties to the community (frankly IMO there are none to very little now-mention football to the average Stow person and they just look at you) and an overall long-term plan, something that hasn't seemed to be in place at the scale needed.

Stow's a sleeping giant, I just wish someone knew how to wake it up.

You may be right about the hiring freeze. Stow's got a lot of budget and lev problems overhanging the district that is has to fight thru

The hiring freeze is a reality based on my sources. I like Tink but if he had to be replaced I think Oldline you could figure out who I'd like the replacement to be.

And a good one it would be. Why don't these schools see the passion these guys have? I'm aways amazed at some of the personnel decisions that get made (or not made) at this level.

Stow's got no passion, or it may be there in isolated pockets. To the guy who stands on the sideline, it ain't there like it should be to me. I like Tink, but let's call a spade a spade here.

Christmas is just around the corner, so who is on the wish list gentlemen? Is it someone in-house or an admiration from afar? Do-tell, pretty please with sugar on top? GO BULLDOGS

Stow should be marching out in front of 6000 fans every week in maroon-and-gold USC uniforms. They should have several D-1 talents every season. Anything less is a travesty. You certainly can't win every game, but I sure would like to see the Bulldogs crank it up a few notches.

Unless the job opens up we will never know. And I don't expect it to either.

I heard that too from a different source. I'll have to confirm the details. Who's on the short list of names for a replacement?

According to a sports writer friend of mine, our very own AD may be returning to the sideline. They may not hire someone until March. I hope someone can run the weight room until then.

I'm pretty sure Don Ross doesn't want to coach anymore from what I've heard.

Hiring freeze??? Scott Pollock, the former Head Coach at Mogadore is a perfect fit! He would only require a coaching stipend and would bring toughness and a winning attitude to the program.

Tha Bank thinks that Coach Pollack would struggle at Stow. He is used to that small-school style of ball, and while it works great there with smaller teams, the bigger teams that Stow will be playing would eat that style up. Not a knock on his coaching, but rather what he is used to and accustomed to over his career at Moggy.

That is very possible Tha Bank, but a coach of his caliber is smart enough to adapt his style and surround himself with good, solid assistants. If you combine that with what he was able to do at Mogadore with a handful of kids I would think it might be a scary combo. Agree? Keep in mind he has always had Mogadore kids and Mogadore assistants. I know him from his days at Streetsboro and he has stated that if he were to go to a big school that would obviously change.

I agree on one thing, you might see one or two Feldman's on the sideline's.

I sure do hope that the student-athletes are getting sufficient work in the weightroom!

If Pollack is so great then why did he stop coaching? Why has he had such a long absence?

Why is this taking so long? Shouldn't they have had some sort of interviews, at least first round, done?

It sounds like there will be a new dawn for the Stow High football program. If I were to start a new program this would be hung in the lockerroom and played before every game.

What's he that wishes so?
My cousin Westmoreland? No, my fair cousin;
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England.
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more methinks would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is call'd the feast of Crispian.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
