DO NOT use^ if you believe it could be a severe concussion.

Bengals sign Matt Barkley as backup. I can remember when many brown fans thought he would be their next savior and longed for him in the draft.

He's won as many playoff games as recently's favorite QB

Two long lists: 1) Players Browns fans thought could be their next savior; 2) Disappointing USC QB's. I don't think there's been a decent pro USC QB since Carson Palmer (Barkley; Leinart; Kessler...).

You sure you have the right player? That draft was probably the worst draft for QB's in the last 30 years; I don't think any of the QB's was listed as a savior for any team.

He may referring to his junior (?) year? Wasnt he projected to be a top pick or close to it the year before he left and didnt meet expectations his last year of college?

The prescription meds he was taking has a level 3 narcotic in it (similar to Heroin). I'm not sure it is a PED but it can and will show up on a drug screen. His story could be legit. It is still his responsibility to report prescription meds to the league for approval prior to taking them though.

In hindsight, he may have been a little less foolish than Cardale Jones for staying one more year. I assume Barkley "played school" and got his degree....

The narcotic in it is Butalb. It is for migraine and concussion relief.

It's on Burfict to disclose that and get it approved by the league, and maybe I'm understanding wrong, but why in god's name is a drug that provides migraine and CONCUSSION relief banned from a league that is having a concussion crisis?

Is it on Burfict or the team doctor to disclose those medications?

Bultalbital is a barbiturate and it would show up on a urine drug screen. The med he is taking is not really that uncommon among people who have headaches or migraines. Basically it's a combination of caffeine, Tylenol, and Bultalbital.

From what I can see in the FDA's database, that particular brand was discontinued in the U.S so I'm not sure where he got it from. There is an identical medication called Fiorcet that is taken for migraines.

Bultalbital is DEA schedule III which falls in the same category as anabolic steroids. If it is what he tested positive for it may be an appeal he can win.

Ohio State quarterbacks in the NFL. I'll take USC:

John Borton: (1957 Browns) 3/6, 22 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT
Joe Germaine: (1999 Rams) 9/16, 136 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT
Kent Graham: (92-94 NYG, 96-96 Ari, 98-99 NYG, 00 Pitt, 01 Was) 694/1339, 7801 yds, 39 TD, 33 INT
Bobby Hoying: (96-98 Phi, 99-00 Oak) 244/456, 2544 yds, 11 TD, 15 INT
Craig Krenzel: (2004 Bears) 59/127, 718 yds, 3 TD, 6 INT
Art Schliter: (82-85 Colts) 91/202, 1006 yds, 3 TD, 11 INT
Troy Smith: (07-09 Ravens, ’10 49ers) 121/234, 1734 yds, 8 TD, 5 INT
Mike Tomczak: (85-99 Bears, Packers, Browns, Steelers) 1248/2337, 16,079 yds, 88 TD, 106 INT
Cardale Jones.

That commonly happens with people in/around the Cincinnati area -- it shows their "little-man syndrome" when it comes to OSU. Even if we were to bite, the obvious difference is OSU has very rarely had highly touted QBs as NFL prospects, where USC has had many examples that didn't pan out.
