Westlake D1 Sectional - feeds to Mentor

This is a pretty strong sectional. Then again it needs to be given what two of the sectionals bring (or for that matter don't bring) at the Mentor district.

St. Edward will obviously win, Elyria will obviously come in second. Avon is the clear third best team this year coming off their split of the SWC crown. Other teams in the field: Avon Lake, Lorain, Midview, North Olmsted, North Ridgeville, Olmsted Falls, Amherst, and Westlake.

106 - Seefeldt (St. Edward), Fenton (Elyria), Saxton (Avon); Kennedy (North Olmsted), Santiago (Lorain); commentary -- top three kids here are the three best at district as well, Seefeldt probably the favorite though, battle for fourth to be an inconvenience for the rest of the district field the following week

113 - Delsanter (St. Edward), Allison (Elyria), Sear (Avon), Comerford (Olmsted Falls); Delsanter is the head of the field, Allison next in line, those two are state level kids

120 - Na. Burnett (Elyria), Poole (St. Edward), Robertson (Avon), Lough (Amherst), Reagon (North Olmsted); Burnett the class of the field, the other four battling for three district spots (and I'd say the chance for one state spot behind Burnett, Sabin, and Oviedo)

126 - Shawver (Elyria), Rini (St. Edward), Dunstan (North Ridgeville), Anderson (Midview); the Dunstan/Anderson bronze medal bout will be very important to watch as that could play a major role in positioning for the fourth state spot (if one is to presume Shawver, Rini, and Haskin are taking three of them)

132 - M. Burnett (Elyria), Richter (St. Edward), Zayed (Westlake), Hutchinson (Midview), Shepard (Avon Lake); Burnett is first, Richter second (them and Saito are three at Mentor with a very congested group for the other state spot, though it's not other kids in this sectional in that conversation)

138 - Hepner (St. Edward), Zuckerman (Elyria), Perry (Avon Lake), Carrion (Amherst), Urry (Olmsted Falls); Hepner and Zuckerman are the class of the sectional and should be 1-2 at Mentor with DeBoe the third and an open fourth spot (if I was a 132 at Mentor that wasn't in the top three, I might try my luck at 138)

145 - Andonian (St. Edward), Philion (Midview), Sear (Avon), Findlay (Lorain), Viancourt (North Ridgeville), Carmichael (Westlake); Andonian is the class of this field, got a good competition for order of the other three district spots, and the competition for the fourth state spot is going to be a tight one (presuming Garee and Pettiford take two of the other three state spots)

152 - Dover (St. Edward), Munguia (Elyria), Masisak (Avon), Atkins (Olmsted Falls), Ashburn (Westlake); the 1-2 here at the sectional is clear, and they're 1-2 at the district

160 - Gallagher (St. Edward), Crawford (Lorain), Kruger (Westlake), Salem (Avon Lake), West (Amherst); Gallagher clear head of the class, I'd like Crawford as a potential state qualifier if the district wasn't absolutely impossible (you have one legit state level kid going to be displaced based on the present weight composition)

170 - Evans (Elyria), Garcar (St. Edward), Diaz (North Olmsted), Endrizal (Avon); Evans and Garcar clear class of this field and either 1-2 or 1-3 at district depending on Lagoa; if Lagoa doesn't go, Diaz has a legit shot at a state spot (otherwise I'd say it's a stretch)

182 - Hightower (St. Edward), Doehr (Elyria), Fetterman (Olmsted Falls), Zayed (Westlake); Hightower is the class of this field and the top kid at Mentor, Doehr has the potential chance to get the fourth spot to state in a weight that's very thin as presently constituted at Mentor

195 - Greer (Avon), Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls), Lisco (St. Edward), Aguilar (Elyria). With Wood (Fremont Ross) getting down to 195, the semi that doesn't have Greer in it and the third place match are crucial for state qualification hopes

220 - O'Malley (St. Edward), Levis (Elyria), Hellinger (Amherst), MacGregor (North Ridgeville), Bingham (Avon); O'Malley the class of the field, Levis is second best

285 - Bucknavich (Midview), Roesch (Avon), Kilbane (St. Edward), White (Olmsted Falls), Jones (North Olmsted); Bucknavich and Roesch are looking at a third finals meeting, finishing third could become important though fourth isn't necessarily a death wish the way the district looks

Seeds are up

106 - Saxton, Fenton, Santiago (5th- Seefeldt)
113 - Delsanter, Allison, Sear
120 - Lough, Burnett, Reagon (6th- Robertson, below 8th- Poole)
126 - Shawver, Rini, Dunstan, Negron, Anderson ... you're going to have a legit district level kid staying home out of the three kids behind Shawver & Rini
132 - Avon Lake inaccurately put in criteria. Burnett is the one, then I think Richter and Zayed will be the 2/3
138 - Hepner, Zuckerman ... then out of Carrion, Perry, and Urry one will be staying home
145 - Andonian, PHilion, Findley, Sear, Viancourt ... from the four behind Andonian one will be staying home
152 - Dover (3rd- Munguia)
160 - Gallagher, Kruger, Crawford, Salem
170 - Evans/Garcar in some order, Diaz is third
182 - Hightower (5th- Doehr)
195 - Greer, Jaeckin, Aguilar, Lisco
220 - O'Malley, LEvis
285 - Roesch, Bucknavich, Jones, Kilbane ... the Jones/Kilbane match likely for third culd have an important bracketing impact for next week

At 126, Dunstan beat Anderson twice, I believe Anderson beat Negron!

Head-on is irrelevant for seeding in the NE unless there's a very narrow circumstance - which is not in play here.

106: Seefeldt beat Saxton 11-4 and then Fenton in OT to win the sectional, Saxton gets third
113: Allison with the 4-3 upset of Delsanter to win the sectional
120: Burnett beat Robertson and then Poole by narrower margins than I thought to win the sectional, Robertson was third and Lough fourth; Reagon does not get out
126: Shawver 11-8 over Rini for the title, Anderson 2-1 over Delsanter for a potentially crucial third place finish
132: Burnett majors Richter 13-1 for gold
138: Hepner 7-2 over Zuckerman
145: Andonian wins, Sear beat Philion 7-6 in a big semifinal match; Philion 3-1 over Findley for third
152: Dover wins, Munguia to the final and forfeited there
160: Gallagher wins, Kruger 2nd, Crawford third (though beyond Gallagher it may not matter)
170: Evans pins Diaz in the final, Diaz in OT over Garcar. If Lagoa was dangling around, then it could have gotten real interesting at district
182: Hightower over Doehr in a semi, Doehr for third
195: Aguilar with the unexpected day to win the title, beat Jaeckin in the semi then 7-6 over Greer for gold. Greer 5-3 over Lisco in a semi, Lisco 8-3 over Jaeckin, which puts Jaeckin in a possible bind next week
220: O'Malley 8-3 over Levis
285: Roesch beat Kilbane in a semi 3-1, Jones pinned Bucknavich in the other semi, which was Bucknavich's first loss of the year. Nothing major could really happen in this weight as these might be the four best kids (Jake Bever is the only real other contender for a state spot).
