Ironman

http://walshjesuitironman.com/

Toughest high school tourney in the nation. Website is very informative. Free Program download. Always a great tournament, but it has really elevated itself to another level. You can watch the whole thing on Flowrestling if you can't get there.

Any ironman memories from the past, any predictions for Saturday?

From the list posted of ranked wrestlers, looks to be another great year. Never sure on who exactly is gonna show up (early season injuries and football), but going off their list of ranked wrestlers 132-152 is stacked. Guessing brackets Thursday night?

6 of the top 8 nationally ranked teams and 16 of top 25. As usual, likely the top HS tournament in the country.

I’d be slightly surprised if Crace made the finals this year...

Close, yeah, but based on the current field think he is a nice favorite. If Blair wasn't a great team, I would like to see Ferrari bump up and wrestle Amos. Jace Luchau from California already said he wants to go 160 to wrestle Connor Brady. Love to see those types of matches

All PRELIMINARY seeds - subject to scratches, weight changes, etc - will be posted tonight.
There will be NO brackets until after weigh-ins on Friday morning.

Skinner is ineligible for his team's first half of competition points, as his transfer happened under the "old" transfer (ineligibility) bylaw.

As far as a Trephan/Amos match, I think the score would be close, but the match would be a controlled Amos victory. If Amos doesn't win by fall (or other type of "boat race"), it tends to be a narrow margin but one-sided match; he scores when needed and accrues a ton of riding time (yes, I know there is not such in high school)

Interesting facts behind this kid (Manzona Bryant IV) from Hudson Western reserve Academy. For those of you who do not know Hudson WRA is a residential college preparatory private school that doesn't compete in the OHSAA. They complete in Lehigh National Prep Tournament, the same national prep championships that Blair Academy compete at.
Manzona Bryant IV, is seeded 8th and is a two time State place winner out of Indiana. I am guessing that he was in some residential prep school in Indiana before transferring to Hudson Western Reserve Academy. He is originally from the Columbus, Ohio area, and regularly compete for USA Wrestling Team Ohio. For those who follow youth wrestling (which I do not), he was a 6 time State //champ (4 at the grade school level and two at the middle school level). In short the kid is a bonafide stud, and only a junior. keep an eye on this kid.

Two time Ohio junior high winner, second has 6th grader, 4 time elementary champion and a Tulsa national title was all apart of his youth accomplishments.

Manzona attended Culver Academy. They are a prep school, but compete in the IHSAA. Culver seems to pull a couple incoming Ohio freshmen every year. Just this year they got Donahue and Cernus (Both are/were ranked in the 2022 class on Flo). They also got D2 state placer Finnerty from Circleville as a transfer this year as well.

Ed's without the football players and the still injured guys. I know the football team is excellent, but man I wanted to see some of those guys out here at the Ironman.

No Kilbane, Lisco, Pietrowski, O'Malley, Gallagher, or Hightower.

I love the Ironman, but I certainly wish it was a little later in the season so the footballers didn't miss it whenever they make the State Championship game.

The wrestlers again played a HUGE role in a successful defensive front for St. Edward and Kilbane has established himself as an elite O-lineman.

Plus, Dzuro the QB was a wrestler and it certainly showed in his running plays!

Bigtimewrestling: I’ll give you 2 unseeded kids to watch: Jeffrey Thomas (Graham) and Jax Leonard (Louisville). Last I heard, Thomas will be dropping to 145 for this event and then move back up.

Which of these guys were on the football team and which ones are out with injury?

Not sure on all of them as I donít really follow the football team. But I did catch the state finals win and noticed Pietrowski, OíMalley, and Kilbane make plays so those 3 are definitely football guys.
