They eliminated 8 teams with a Central District Dodgeball Tournament... 32 teams was just too much!

The central, Eastern And southeastern districts need to come together to figure out a better solution that’s fair to all the schools..how many of those schools ha e full line ups?

They need to take the total number of schools, then assign a specific number of schools to each sectional, making them as even as mathematically possible. They then need to seed the teams and allow the teams to pick where they want to go, starting with the highest seeds, working to the lowest.

The idea that one sectional would have 16 kids, and the others average less than 8, is ridiculous.

bucksman will become famous soon enough
Even with 22 schools present last year, the all-Central district D2 sectional had just ten qualifier to state (yes, Alexander had seven). From a competitive standpoint, the two Eastern district sectionals dominate(d) this mixed district.

Nine of the schools at this site last year had five or less kids in their sectional lineup.

FYI -- the Alexander D2 sectional had 11 schools entered, nine of the schools had 9+ wrestlers in the lineup (eight of them were in double digits)

Obviously, Bucksman is right and there are some empty teams and weight classes, however, after being in the Central D1 sectionals the past few years, and moving to this sectional, I can tell you that without a doubt it will be harder to make it out of this sectional. There are going to be some very deep and competitive weight classes.

I am not saying the format needs to change, I just think that this year, I think it might be deeper than year's past.

They tried to balance things out a few years ago by having one East Sectional and allowing 8 east schools choose to go to the Central’s 2 Sectionals. Carrollton won the Whitehall sectional, and Steubenville won the Licking Valley Sectional. After that, the central district was fine with having one sectional.

The 24 schools at the one central sectional could never compare to the talent that the 20 east district schools have. One of them has to have just one sectional, and based on past results, it should be the central. Imagine Beaver, Steubenville, Carrollton, Claymont, Indian Valley, and Minerva all at one sectional?

I agree, the east is definitely stronger, however, placing all of the 40+ schools into one draw and allowing them the choice to travel, if they want to, and balance things out would definitely be more fair.

However, the shift in structure in the central district's hands. Once they prove they can go to districts and have a better showing, the state will make the change.

I think your dreaming buddy. The central sectional is making progress but I don't think it's there yet.

At the district .........14 (placers) x 4 (spots) = 56 placers to state
56 divided by 4 sectionals = 14
So 11-13 out of this sectional is not bad.

Of course the wildcard is 24 teams. And someone eluded to the sectional is fine with this in lieu of getting some of the eastern schools added.

I have never seen a sectional with this many teams. Has it happened before?

Also, I did not even know Watterson had a team. Let alone 9 wrestlers. When did they start their team back up?

Can we also do this one in one day just to make it more fun?

SE sectionals used to have 24 teams until all teams had enough wrestlers on each team to be considered a team. Many of the 24 teams in this sectional in years past of not had 7 or more wrestlers so technically they are not really considered teams by the OHSAA

True for this year . Most of the Blanchester will not be as full as this sectional. This is a count year though. So this sectional could be split next year.

[QUOTE=CDVA;7258844]Bless your heart.
It's always nice to see blind loyalty.

Is the loyalty "blind" if based on available data? Although just the opinion of Borofan and Bucksman... the Rankings below suggest 14 Qualifiers out of the Licking Valley Sectional is reasonable. Borofan and Bucksman project 182 Cooper Graham 4th at Heath and Bucksman projects 285 Nate Jackson 3rd ... we all know it is more complicated than Rankings but I don't believe it's as unlikely as you may think. Only time will tell... good luck to all the Central District wrestlers over the next three weeks!

Rankings below: #Boro/#Bucksman

106- #5/#8 Drake Cerney
113- #8/#6 Michael Petrella
