“We will eliminate the HIV epidemic in 10 years” he says as he diverts funding from HIV research while standing in front of the man who oversaw the largest HIV outbreak in Indiana history

Very good speech. I did like the fact that he went all in on anti-socialism, anti-Semitism, and anti-murder of infants it provided a nice look of the Democrat Party's positions. He made a good case for the wall, and extended an olive branch to the Dems, will be interesting to see if anything changes.

Huh, I always thought that the largest HIV outbreak in Indiana history was in 1933. Pence wasn't even a gleam in his dad's eye then.

What was really cool was when he pointed out that many of those that oppose a proper border wall and block its funding are themselves personally protected walls while he was in front of a woman that lives in a walled winery that produces no wine.

FOX's producer did a great job of framing up Shumer during the abortion comments.

Trump is getting very good at this stuff.

It was a brilliant speech that started off showcasing three enormously important NON-PARTISAN events in American history which forced both sides of the aisle to stand & cheer. This had the effect of making the times when the democrats sat on their butts stand out even more.

It was by far Trump's best delivered speech since becoming POTUS.

The optics overwhelmingly favored the republicans:

* Pelosi looked like she wanted to spit out a mouthful of Chew tobacco. And what the hell was she reading?

* And don't get me started on the Democrat Handmaidens sitting all together and looking like someone had crapped on their lawn. My goodness they came across as the Borg collective. It was interesting that they finally stood up and clapped when Trump mentioned women in congress. Nice to know that their passions are only stirred when it's all about them.

As a history junkie my favorite line from Trump tonight:

"Great nations do NOT fight endless wars" - how true.

At the risk of going overboard dare I say Trump sounded Reaganesque tonight?

Stacy Abrams showed why she lost in Georgia. No real solutions, just demands for more wealth transfer programs with no accountability.

Pelosi at times looked like Darth Vader using mind tricks to choke off her weak minded minions. The handmaids tale outfits really allowed you to zero in on the socialists and anti-Semites as they sat for what should have been unanimous applause opps.

Do these democrat women actually believe that their attire didn't look anything but ridiculous?

And why didn't they have the courage of their convictions and dress all in red with those cute little white bonnets.

Another great Trump quote from tonight's speech:

"America will NEVER be a socialist country".

Sad though that he has to even say that.

You know, I watched on FOX. Your comments got me thinking - I wonder which camera angles NBC's producer uses during those moments. It truly is an awful look.

Stephen Kruiser describes the democrat Handmaidens as:

I did notice the extra accoutrements to identify African tribes, India, Mexico, etc. I thought these were all Americans that were elected.

I predict the media and hate Trumpsters will focus on what I believe was his weakest point, the comment about how his election prevented a war with North Korea. I do believe he has gone a long way in tempering hostilities but I think he could have worded that section better. Beyond that one piece I think he hit a lot of home runs tonight and lotr10 is right, Trump is getting better at this. He even got the stiffs in white to get up and cheer who you could tell had a plan to not stand at all during the speech.

Trump brought out a lot success stories that you don't hear in the media. Again, I'm not a big fan of his style or lack there of at times, but he really has done a lot to help this nation and the Hate Trumpsters are so blinded they will never admit to his several victories over the past two years.

I wish they would have zoomed in on the Muslim when he made his comments supporting Israel and Jews.

You don't have sympathy for "truckdrivers that are forced to buy their own rigs" ?

She looked like a fool. It's easy to see why the Democraps picked a failed candidate to deliver that speech. What country is she living in ?

Yikes. I mean a bit if a difference in the character of the two men wouldn't you say. Asking not to be investigated? Not mentioning the shutdown? That was a great move by this Reaganesque President .

Man has every aspect of his life and business being investigated and a handful of his team personal advisers cabinet members and persona lawyer will do time and or are awaiting their turn to do time and you are calling him Reaganesque? The fact that you are slobbering over this type of man as if there is some kind of unifying greatness to him tells mew a lotty about you.

Good grief . The man is a full blown narcissist and serial liar and you are again assigning qualities he simply doesn't have.

Completely lied about El Paso Texas for reasons we all know. Loved him saying he wants LARGEST numbers of immigrants coming in if done legally. Hs own policies are for cutting all legal immigration by 50 percent among other falsehoods . Fact checking is a minor nuisance for serial liars though he doesn't care about the truth. As he says You just say it and 'They believe it. I know who some of 'THEY" are . that is pretty clear. How many lies were included in this speech? under Over?

Didn't watch it, but noticed this morning that most flash polls show the public with pretty strong approval for the speech.

A few thoughts from an independent.

1. I remember when it used to be said, "America will never have same sex marriage" . The mere fact the POTUS had to make such a statement tells me the threat of socialism is a very real thing, and only way we avoid it is to stop decending directly to socialism's door step. On our current trajectory Socialism is where we land.

2. National appeal to the speech. There were many unifying issues laid out in plain view that required applause by both sides and really any American citizen. Was one of the more positive and unifying state of the union addresses I can recall.

3. Trump kicked off campaign 2020 with that speech. Hard for never Trumpers to not get behind the guy and fight for our nation. If the wall is part of the solution to major threats to our nation then we need to get behind building the wall. Both sides are guilty of divisive politics and any cause that can unite should be applauded.

4. When will politicians return to focus on the debt and threat it brings to the nation? Not mentioning our hemorging flow of money will not make the negative effects of such policy disappear. I thought for sure Trump would bring social security up, or Medicare, or any such program that is sucking us dry, but no, guess that would have been too negative.

Overall, thought it was a great moment for the nation. Let's see if it carries over to today?

White dressed ladies looked foolish. Trump touts lowest unemployment rate for black and hispanic Americans on record and the ladies just sit there looking around wondering if they should stand and clap. Whatever cause they were supporting was lost on their own hatred. AOC also looked foolish.

I didn't watch, but I did see AOC get left hanging on a high five and that Warren filled out her State Bar of Texas registration card stating her race was American Indian.

Teleprompter Trump on his best behavior. Sure there is a number of lies and fact checking but we expect that with Trump. The choice between investigations and our economy seems a little like blackmail. If we investigate his illegal activities he will do what?

After working in the trucking and transportation industry for over 35 years, all I could do is laugh and mentioned to my wife no wonder she lost the race for governor, she saying pretty words but she does not even have the faintest idea of what she is talking about and neither did her speech writers.

The words being thrown around by the liberal news media to describe Trump and his speech are "deranged" and "detached". I went to several different networks and those had to be the planned and agreed upon words to describe him.
