Thanks everyone for the help! I updated the list. I put a question mark next to Freeman now since Alda113 made it seem like he may go somewhere else

Another in the other category would be Peyton Craft. I would assume Graham for him though that would be a guess.

Who cares what grade he should be in. There have been a ton of kids that held back before him and a ton that will hold back after him. He is not a great wrestler because he was held back. He is a great wrestler cause he works his butt off all year long. Why are you just throwing out Paddy's name.

Here's a question!!!! Who's more competitive in HS. Lighter weights 106-120 or the big guys? I'm guessing lighter guys just because of age as of freshman year? Maybe jh kids are more athletic than the average HS Big boy??

Because at some point you aren't comparing apples to apples. People love to brag about how great their kids are and how hard they work it beating a 14 yr old freshman when you're 16 isn't a big deal. Finally, if these kids all work so hard why do you have to hold them back??

But you are never comparing apples to apples. Just because kids are the exact same age does not mean they are at the same level of physical, emotional, or social maturity. My 14 year old may be a post pubescent beast compared to your hairless kid of the exact same age. That is why this whole debate makes little sense. Just because a kid gets held back does not mean that they have an advantage RELATIVE to who they are competing against. Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

You are right about a lot of your points. However, many of these hold backs aren't the prepubescent weaklings you describe. Basically, it is most often done to achieve a competitive edge over younger opponents.

Do people that have an issue with hold backs, want a separate state championship for each grade or birth certificate challenge like Ohio-Way or T.O.F.C. ?
