If you've gotten a tattoo, do you regret it?

On WNIR radio this afternoon, they were claiming that 80% of people who've gotten a tattoo regret that decision. That number seems awfully high. Just curious what others think on here. If you've gotten a tattoo, do you regret it?

I know my father is one of the 80%. Had his fiance's name tattooed on his forearm when he went into the service. Unbeknownst to him, she broke it off while he was overseas and was engaged to someone else when he got back home.

When I was little I was fascinated with his tattoo. It wasn't until I learned to read that I discovered my mom's name wasn't spelled "Mary Ann".

I know my mom regretted that he never had it removed.

Why didn't he just get a cover up?

Cover-up, removal - don't know, he just never bothered. Maybe he always wanted to remember the fiance. Or maybe he wanted to remember it so he'd never make the mistake again. He and Mom were married 57 years when she passed away, so they both managed to deal with it.

A possibility, but he never spoke about it. He told me he ran into her about ten years ago, but it was very anti-climactic. Said it was the first time he'd seen her since the break-up.

I think I knew her. Did she have an "H" tattooed on her left butt cheek and an "E" on the other?

No. She did have tramp stamp though.

Or maybe you mean an "E" and "P"?

I have 4 tats and they were all before age 21. Therefore I was young and dumb. I don't necessarily regret them, but looking back, I wouldn't get them again. Luckily none of them are visible.

I'm in my 50's, never got a tat and don't want one. I tell everyone now I'm going to open a tatoo removal shop in about 10 years. There are so many 18-30 year olds all "inked" up who will be my best customers.

I get a kick out of the neck tats. I want to tell anyone who isn't established in a career that they just closed off about 1/2 of their career opportunities with a visible tatoo. Why???

I've been married for 28 years and love my wife dearly, but I wouldn't get her name tatooed on my body. Always, never and forever is a long time.

How many people with neck tats do you think actually strive to get an established career that doesn't involve gangs, drugs and crimes?

Do not have any to regret. I have always thought I might be the smartest but I'm not stupid enough to get tattooed.

This group of 18-30 year old's is no different than the last 30 years or so. If anything, I'd guess there are much fewer people getting tattoos than 20 years ago.
