I've been told there will be a satellite weigh in prior to EOWL finals guessing between 4 and 430 at liberty. I'm not 100 percent sure on that, so please double check prior to attempting that weigh in.

What are some good wrestlers to keep an eye on here? Noticed a few deep weight classes. Should be a tough district.

If it fits in a bag that the wrestler carries they let it in. If not, canít bring it in.

I don't complain about how a tournament is ran but this was a one of the worst experiences I have ever had in 20 years of wrestling. I understand the OAC rules are different from OHSAA and the 45 minute rule doesn't apply, but it is common sense that when two of my kids wrestle 4 times in 45 minutes that it becomes more of a safety hazard than the worrisome of them being tired or "out of shape." 4 times in 45 minutes was absolutely RIDICULOUS and caused one of my kids an opportunity to win his GO TO STATE match because he exhausted from an OT match 10 minutes beforehand. I for one will never return to Steubenville district. Brecksville runs one heck of a tournament and I will continue to go to their district.

I have been going to OAC districts for about 8 years. I have been to Uniontown Lake (doesn't exist anymore), Troy, Glenoak, Berea-Midpark, Nelsonville-York, Steubenville, and Norwalk. Every single one of these ended up having to run consolations rather close to each other in the similar way are describing.

Also, if you lose early at state, consolations are the same way, wrestled twice/three times rather close together.

This is not a new phenomenon at OAC. I saw it yesterday at Norwalk where a couple of our kids wrestled rather quick back to back in consi's.

It sucks, no doubt, but it is just plain how it works at OAC. I have yet to see a district or the state tournament where this does NOT happen.

Shoot, first year my son placed at OAC state he wrestled 3 consolation matches inside of an hour, MAYBE hour and fifteen minutes tops.

They don't have to and do not follow OHSAA rules, just like the 5 match rule is out the door. Shoot, one kid my son wrestled yesterday in round 2 ended up wrestling 8 matches total to make it back to placement rounds and qualify. I actually walked up to the kid after his last match and told him congratulations, he had to work his but off to make it all the way back after losing early.

Email Jude, they are very good about making changes. Maybe get a 10 to 15 minute window between bouts. Other than that I thought it ran pretty smooth.

Like I stated above, I completely understand that it's not OHSAA rules and the 45 min rule and 5 match rule does not apply. I love that my kids are getting matches. But when it comes down to it, I believe wrestling 4 state caliber matches in 45 minutes is a bit much, one of them being an overtime match. One of my kids, is in outstanding shape, and actually puked before his 4 match because he literally had just come off the mat 5 minutes before hand. I have been to Lake, Glenoak, Jackson(this year), Steubenville, and Brecksville districts. I can say that they do run quickly but I have never ran into this problem. Brecksville, by far, runs the best district. I get that they run these quickly and I'm not complaining that it didn't run smooth. I just wish we had more time to recover and go to the bathroom between matches.

When the lightweights are wrestling and then you start mixing the upper weights in around the 1:00 PM time frame, you're allowing the lightweights to get more of a break between the most important matches of the day. As where, the upper weights had no time between matches when it was crunch time (quarters, consi quarters, consi semi's)

I will email Jude, he does a great job in responding. I just believe that a kid should have the opportunity to recover for at least 15 minutes. I mean there is a legit reason behind the 45 minute rule in OHSAA...and that the kid's safety and health.

I understand your complaint, but I don't see a problem with a quick turnaround. The Consi's are 1-1-1 and I'm sure that OAC level kids are going much longer go's in their practice rooms in their training.... It's a grind for sure, but if you know that going in you should prepare for it. As a coach/parent, I appreciate getting out of the there w/in 4 hours....

Hey, the Olympics / World Championships are the same deal.... Often wrestling 2-3 times w/in an hour....

I thought it was a great tournament....shaggy and the Steubenville folks always put on a great OAC district if you ask me...Both Grade school and Jr High...There will always be a few blunders, but overall it was good.
