SWBL coaching changes

Just saw Brown is out at Carlisle, any other SWBL changes this upcoming year? Also, why is Brown stepping down. Seemed to be a heck of a good coach.

Please let Northridge show up on this list. Need to get old dried up coaches out of there. Give them their coaching checks just to stay away if they need the money that bad. It is way past time for change. No leadership, development or accountability.

My guess is that this was an ideal time to retire so he could go out with that Senior class.

Besides going 0-10 this season, were there other reasons that Carlisle fired their coach?

I think he resigned, not fired.
I bet an 0-10 season sucks the life out of you.

Correct. He resigned (and not under pressure to do so). Plus, I believe his wife recently had a baby. I think he wanted to spend more time at home.

You say all of that, but your favorite school is Pickerington Central? This doesn't make much sense why you are concerned with Northridge. Are you a graduate from Northridge? That would make sense then. Just confused how you care about Northridge and the coach.

Yes, I graduated from Northridge back in the late 80s. I have lived in Pickerington for 17 years. I am not involved with Northridge at all but really think they should put more emphasis on competing rather than just fielding teams. I also think there are enough athletes to be competitive but the coaches are clueless.

Just read the article, and it seems like a lot of other coaches should take his advice. He gives full credit to those surrounding the program, and takes no credit for the success. It is no wonder those kids would walk thru fire for him.

I think coach Smith is doing a great job. Parenting is your issue. I've been to Northridge games and watched parents walk out on the field with their kid for senior night/parents night, give him a hug, then keep walking right out of the stadium. Coach drives some kids to practice. he buys some kids shoes. He deals with issues none of the other league coaches have to contend with. Last years team was competitive.
Be careful what you wish for

I gotcha, yes they can compete in a lot of games. They have so many athletes, just don't have the correct coaching. Twon Hines is able to pull himself off of the field whenever he wants, but he is the best on that team and needed to be on the field at all times. The kid is a stud at any sport. Runs hard, can cut, juke, fast, and just needs to be out there on the field.

Poff is a great coach and know's what he is doing. I'm sure Madison community is not happy with the decision he has made. I understand his decision. Wonderful coach and wonderful guy. He has so much respect throughout the league by coaches and other players. Wish him nothing but the best.

You heard wrong. Are they going to be ranked in the state poll? No. But they should be battling for the SWBL title again.

In no way did Poff leave because of the talent at Madison.

That is not Coach Poff's style. I don't believe he would quit because talent is gone. Whoever told you that has to be speculating. Coach is Madison through and through. This decision wasn't made lightly, in my opinion, had to be best for him and his family.

I do not believe he left because talent was dropping.

Now, If you told me he stuck around one year more than he would have because of the talent they had this year? yeah, I'd believe that!!

You have no idea what you are talking about. You have been gone a long time. The problems in Northridge have nothing to do with coaching. We play them in 7 on 7 all the time and they are coached well. They dont have much talent and their line is terrible. Still went 5-5 this year and most losses were close so not sure what you are complaining about.

I heard Chris Hawkins who a lot of people in Carlisle wanted when they hired Brown did not apply that surprised me. No idea where they go with this hire.

Poff is just stepping down as head coach, he'll still be on the staff as an assistant. Hopefully Madison brings someone in that doesn't use them as a stepping stone to try and coach at the next division like past coaches (lauer, snively, wells).

Heard Channell applied but was declined due to his recent allegations lol

That’s not how I hear it. I hear people was very unhappy with the pass crazy offense which had ran its course and began producing very subpar results based on their talent. He was the OC. I thought the Job was Ron Ullery which I believe was one of the finalist but age and his extreme run philosophy may have been his downfall. The younger more balanced Brown turned out to be a very good Choice. Carlisle talent was simply nonexistent. I don’t believe they had more than a kid who was a All league caliber player where as years past the team was loaded with college recruits. I hear they have some very good candidates. But whoever gets the job has their work cut out for them. I don’t foresee them being a contender for several years to come which may be the reason he didn’t apply. Brown resigning was shocking to me I understand it being family related.
