Greenville still had interviews going on last week think they are close. I have a feeling it is going to be someone already on the coaching staff.

West Carrollton is posted until January 31. Someone said they wanted to wait until the other area jobs were filled (fearful candidates would prefer other jobs?). Most likely waiting to see what teaching positions may open if they want to fill with a teacher.

Dion Black was a finalist 2 years ago. Don't know if Channel's negative reference is still floating around in their Administration. Robertson was on staff (they had a good year offensively) but they must want a younger coach or someone who can take advantage of their open enrollment.

Either way, it probably won't be done until March.

I’ve been hearing people say that he will be the next head coach at West Carrollton. If they like him that much why not just do what they did with linage west when they found they guy they wanted they told him and shut everything down so he can get started in the weight room and getting his staff on board.

If Dion Black gets this job that is a great hire!

I'd love to see Greenville make a splash with their hire, but it's simply not an attractive enough job for someone with serious chops to take a second look at.

I think he will be a great hire as well. He is very energetic with the kids and they would love to play for him. I heard from some of his former players, if it wasnít for him they wouldnít have played football. Iíve heard other coaches say he really know what he is doing and they love to coach against him because he makes them have to try and call a perfect game. If this is who they want they just need to go and offer him now so he can get in the weight room and get them kids going.

In theory with a Jan 31 posting deadline they should've had their candidates to interview and be ready next week (what are the odds of a last second entry on that day). Are they waiting for Miamisburg or just clueless on what goes on in the off-season.

At this point would West Carrolton be better off to just drop football?

Former HC resigned end of November and the posting is for 2 MONTHS. Look at OHSAA postings and most are 2 WEEKS. Not sure Administration knows what to do. Good news, it does say on the Consortium that job is "available" March 4 so I guess that means they will be done by then.

He'd do a good job of getting more kids to join the team also. I'm sure his resume is just as good or better than anyone else that applied.

I think Derge the former Tipp coach would be a slam dunk at Greenville. Seems like a laid back community that wouldn’t expect titles.

I agree- Derge feels like a guy who would do well in Greenville.

If you're WC, what do you have to lose in hiring Dion Black? I can't imagine the candidate pool is very deep with proven head coaches. He's been an assistant for two good programs, and he wants the job. Unless there are some major red flags, they should give it a shot.

Football can succeed at Greenville with the right coach and staff. I'm not holding my breath for an out of the box hire, but I'll wait and see. I hope to be surprised.

Derge would do great at Greenville, but I'm pretty certain he would not want to make the move to there. He is happy with his teaching job at Tipp and his parents live in the Fairborn/Enon area so if he left Tipp it would probably be to somewhere close by.

I do know that Rick Robertson who was WC's OC last season put in for the WC job.

I think Greenville would be good for Derge if he applied for it, but I donít think he did. Rick is a good coach but I donít think WC will give home the job, from what I hear is that the admin donít really care for him and the stuff that happened at Oakwood is still following him.

From what I here Greenville is debating on a couple in house candidates, and they are not satisfied. Not an intriguing job for experienced coaches.

I heard that Dion Black and Rick Robertson interviewed yesterday for the West carrollton job, and one of the basketball coaches. Do anyone know of Any other applicants that interviewed.

You heard wrong. In his only year at Trotwood he went 5-5 with a team that went 0-10 the previous season and finished 1 win(lost game 10) from making the playoffs. Ten guys on that team went D1 with 2 making the NFL(Will Allen and Brandon McKinney) and he was only 24 years old. After that he went on to coach at Wayne as an assistant on their first state runner-up team then went on to coach at the University of Akron.

I know some interviews at WC were this week and they are looking to announce their choice before the end of the month. The AD really wants to resurrect the program and wants to be competitive Iím just not sure how much support he may have on the district level. Thatís the core issue at WC.

Found this. Sounds like WC is close

WC high school football players: tomorrow, the final two Head Coach Candidates will be doing presentations for all students looking to play football next year @3:15. This will be a great opportunity to meet and listen to presentations from the two finalists coaches and talk with them about the goals and ideas for next year? This meeting is for Student athletes only. The location of the meeting will take place in the community room (adjacent to the band room at the High school). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or the Athletic Director Evan Ivory.
Thanks! And spread the word!
